Just did a little more searching and found the actual stuff recommended in the MWO. It is Loctite Depend No-mix Adhesive: No Mix Adhesive Kit - Epoxy - Glues and Cements - 4KL14 : Grainger Industrial Supply It runs $40 per 25mL kit and the MWO says it takes 2 kits to do the front and rear belts.
Mark, this is the stuff I think I am going to use: NAPA AUTO PARTS It requires a cartridge gun to mix and dispense. Some are $$$, Grainger has one for $27 Applicator, Dual Cartridge Manual, 50mL - Epoxy Applicators - Dispensing Guns - 3EPT3 : Grainger Industrial Supply
Thanks John. That's what I figured after reading through the MWO. I found the 2-part adhesive through my local NAPA. I am going to use it since I will have my kids' seats buckled in with the belts. Can't be too careful with them.
Got some more work done over the weekend thanks to some help from my brother and dad. They installed the front LED composites and bolted up some mirrors while I spliced in the turn signal flasher harness and installed the flasher. Thankfully, it was easy to install the harness since I only had...
Hi All,
I picked up a 3-point seat belt kit for my M998, but it didn't include the templates that are used to drill the holes in the body for all of the braces and brackets. Has anyone installed the belts without using the templates? It would seem that you could hold the brackets and braces...
Your wheels look good. They are standard 12-bolt rims meant for 37x12.50R16.50 radial tires like the ones in my avatar. The newer Baja TAs will also work fine on them. The Baja's can be found in D or E load range for the ECV HMMWVs. I am using Load Range D TAs with Load Range E 24-bolt wheels...

Personally, I wouldn't try to reuse the o-rings. They tend to take a "set" after being assembled and will more than likely leak once reassembled. If you are assembling them yourself, that's a lot of wrenching with 48 nuts and 2 torque steps to find out your o-rings won't hold. New ones are...
hummerpartsguy.com has the OEM wheel parts. David is reasonably priced and a nice guy to boot.
Use tire soap or a strong soapy water made with Dawn for assembly. The soapy water is also good for finding leaks.
There is grease all over the inside of the tires because the military slathers...
Here's a little more info on what the job of editor will entail. Once a quarter, the editor will need to put together a webzine with the following:
2-3 feature articles (~2500 words and 2-5 photos/graphics)
4-5 smaller tech/how-to/product review articles (~500 words)
Several regular columns...
Hi all!
I am making a concerted effort to get the official SS Webzine up and running this spring. Initially, it will be a quarterly online publication and the subscription price is included in the premium membership dues. I have been actively trying to recruit authors and an editor for the...
Nice work on the swap! Nothing better than the first test drive.
I'm running the stock AMG TH400 (3L80) behind my 6BT, but have a guy in town that's going to build me a beastly 47RH. I'm going to stick an Atlas box behind it.
Yeah they'd look sweet on a M37!
I have read that they have a fairly soft tread compound. I may have to upgrade to 17" wheels one of these days so I can run the 40" BFG's.
Got my new shoes today. Patracy and John at MILITARYOFFROADTIRES.NET - We're declaring war on high tire prices! hooked me up with a nice set of 90% or better 37x12.50R16.50 Baja TA's. They are gonna look sweet on those 24-bolt rims.
No politics means no politics. There is no room for interpretation. It's really quite simple.
No amount of debate will change the rule. Further posts in this thread that are meant to stir the pot will be deleted and the member will get a 1 week holiday.
Sounds like a productive day, Nick. Those passenger side manifold bolts are a serious pain with the starter in place. It's too bad they didn't use v-band clamps to make the connections. That would have made the job a lot easier.
Personally, I think the easiest way to convert your tires/rims to non-runflat is by using the PVC inserts that a lot of the off-road guys run. They are stout and lightweight. Here's one company that makes/sells them: Hummer Wheel PVC Insert
It is a 1985 ex-USMC HMMWV. The guy I got it from media blasted the tub and had it painted with Dupont Imron metallic black with silver accents. I am going to leave the black and paint anything that is silver with flat black paint.
My 24-bolt rims will look much beefier than the 1-piece...
