Nice truck! Had one just like it. I got mine in a lot worse condition though. Looks like a little cosmetic stuff is all you need to do. I miss my 5-ton.
This is another reminder folks. I will NOT allow political discussions on this site. (The only exception is when it relates to a new anti-MV law. Those threads must remain non-partisan too.)
Why do I have this rule you ask?? Members who like and support each other because of their...
Great discussion here folks. I have been considering how to modify my fording kit since the installation of the Cummins changed a few things. The 6BT doesn't use a CDR so that part of the design won't work. It uses a "slobber tube" or "road draft tube" to expel crank gasses. I thought about...
More pics after my weekend work session. Got the top frame, top, doors and windshields installed. The top frame and windshields were no fun because half of the riv-nuts were stripped out or had broken off screws in them! I ended up drilling the top bracket holes in the b-pillar clear through...
Mark, I haven't seen it in bulk rolls, just the pre-cut pieces made for the military. I wonder if you could find out who the OEM was via the NSN and CAGE codes?
Two more pics for y'all! One of the front with the new LED lights and a shot of the rear. I got my taillights hooked up and then took it for about a 5 mile test drive. I am very pleased to report that nothing fell off or blew up while I was out. Can't wait to fix a few leaks and finish the...
I had a good work session today. I fired the Cummins HMMWV up and drove it down the road and back just for fun. Then, I pulled it into the garage nose first so I could fire up the K1 heater and finish some things on the front end. First, I welded up a mount for my intercooler out of some 1"...
LOL, yep, still grinning. I didn't mind the cold wind and snow stinging my face nor did I mind the fact that I was sitting on a bucket of drywall mud because I couldn't find my seat brackets. Even my wife was grinning, but that was mostly because she can see the light at the end of the project...
Got some more work done this weekend. I made some adjustments to my intercooler plumbing so the hood will close all the way, bolted the hood solid, checked/filled all fluids, cleaned out all of the trash, leftover hardware, tools etc... and then finally got to take it for a test drive as the...
As others have said, it all depends on the size of the rollback. This big tandem rollback had no problem hauling my M925A2 120 miles. It was a stout truck.
That sounds like a lot of fun. I have certainly missed being there over the last few years. No promises this year since we added a new little boy to the Stansbury clan back in September.
Good luck. I think they make 1" and 3" pucks as well so they should have something you can use. They...
Bill,
I deleted your link per site rules: Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite - Forum Rules
As for the truck, buyer beware. The bad stuff you see may only be the proverbial tip of the iceberg. If you haven't inspected the truck personally, then bid to scrap value and stop.
Sorry for the complicated instructions, but unfortunately, I don't have an auto-installer for the program. I had it saved on my laptop from a few years back, but didn't save the original download package. I can't seem to find it on the net right now either. The original ABS Mod Track website...
Sounds like you have an actuator or a fan clutch on the fritz. It should bleed off the air when the temp drops, which shuts off the fan. You could try shutting the truck off when the fan is running and the engine temp is below where the fan should be actuated. Then, undo the supply line that...
Joe:
I bought a set of 2" pucks from Zone Offroad. They are 3" in diameter. I had to drill the holes out to 5/8" since they were set up for 9/16" hardware. I bought six 5/8 x 7" bolts. I had to trim 1/2" off of the front left bolt because it was going to hit the frame. I used the factory 3/8"...
I remember that truck. That was a real surprise when it turned out not to have lockers.
My understanding now is that many of the USMC tractors had the lockers pulled out at the depot level after they snapped axles towing trailers on hard roads. The locker data plate is certainly not a...
We certainly appreciate your comments and input in this matter. We, as a group, decided that we had to do something to protect the longevity of threads in the forums. Too many members have become disenchanted with SS for whatever reason over the years and have then proceeded to delete all of...
