See, short guys don't need mods. 5'6" here as well. And to think all of the times I got called shorty, and short stack, and the plethora of small stature jokes. The HMMWV and I are perfect friends, I may just even adjust my seat FORWARD. I can actually stand up (legs straight bent over at...
Juan you beat me to the picts. I don’t need the hold down bent 45 brackets, I am removing them.
Frame bracket all the way towards rear.
Post interferes.
Sorry for the Tapatalk images, but the site says regular ones failed.
AND to keep the thread on track:
I tried to install a pioneer rack today. It doesn't seem to fit right without bending something. I have to remove the airlift bumper hold down brackets and install them straight, but the welded posts on the back don't fit inside or outside the bumper, even...
Both look great. Ok boys, I need some help. I can't find the 3" 24V ones anywhere, lots of 12v and CREE 4" ones. Did you do a multi voltage (9-30v) or 12v?
Dele16, that's a nice color on that guy. I see you're sort of new. Tell us a little about that rig...and post MORE PICTS!
I have an extended cover now...
And I scored a NOS 4-man cover on craigslist. So all "new" tops. Now I will probably take them all off, as the rain looks like it's stopped. Topless!
Bed divider, cargo seal, hubs and new shoes are on deck.
Drove it around today. OAT was 75, and it...
Well, yesterday I changed out the gauge for one from the 5-ton. It's pretty accurate now, but will move a bit when I tap it. I verified the TDM off and on, and the clutch engaged. So good there. I checked all small hoses, overflow nipple again, and then on a hunch checked the radiator cap...
Juan sent me a huge box! NEW HMMWV parts.
This is a rear cargo extended cover.
Also put some 303 Aerospace on the covers and curtains. Huge difference. I think it might be a bit late, the stitching is coming apart in some areas.
Swapped out my one bad glow plug. No issues coming out. Installed radio rack I scored for $100, and got all the hardware to install the turn signal cancelling ring. Got the bed divider seal in, and looks like it will work great. 4-man extended cargo cover enroute along with new tires...
1988 Humvee Project: Installed my "Bed Divider" today.
Ok, I got the flashing in today. It's pretty stout, so what I was hoping for. As some had stated it's a little short, but nothing silicone won't fix. In the end it would be the raised portion that is a bit short. so not a big...
Check auction sites, or get a friend with a discount card at Office Depot. I was able to print the 5-ton TM's for like $20 (yes that's a SIGNIFICANT discount).
I saw the same thing yesterday in mine, I was just cruising around town and it was creeping up. When you're in local traffic, or slowing through neighborhoods, the fan will not kick on when you are decelerating / stopped, the the TDM delays things. On the highway the fan comes on a lot, even...
I wish the TM's were better on this subject. I know the 72's are the HD, so definitely in the back, but the parts TM lists "rear" for the 70's and "front" for the 71's. No specs in there besides that. I know I've seen posts for weights, but don't know where they got them. 70's sound like...
MacMotors. Their website only accepts part numbers, no browsing. Let me get mine in and I'll write it up. If might be flimsy tin foil. I have a two man that needs to be cut, and no brackets. Alum C channel is what I am thinking for me.
Bought a 1-1/4 wrench from Home Creepo, which only had a ratcheting one, so was double the price. The shipper sent me the 0071's, so I now will have 0070's on the back and 0071's on the front. The TM seems to coincide with that. Had a friend help and we got everything off. The rears SUCKED...
I just ordered an original aluminum one. $77. I'll post my adventure in here. Still need a rope sealer, and might go for silicone, as I like it to be able to come out, but I like stability, so might rivet it. Decisions!
Maybe a clarification on my comment on the 300lbs of torque. I can easily loosen the pins, but getting them retorqued is the issue. With the old shock out, and the new one in the bracket, it's trying to get the lower pin torqued without being held in something substantial is the issue. The top...
