    MEP-802a & 803a

Just use your fork lift. I got a 5000 lb clark 12 years ago for $250 and it works great. The eye inside is just for the engine / generator when servicing.

Beginner Mep-802a owner with water in exhaust has questions

I would never start or run an engine that has had water in the cylinders. you are just asking for trouble and unreliability. pull the head and see what is there, it may be ok or it may be bad. These may have sat for many months or more with water. You may need to pull the pistons and clean...

    803a Problem

Ok, well now it is time to do an autopsy on a pump!! If they don't work, you can hardly make it worse. Looks like the top fitting comes off, I would suspect there is a delivery check valve there, it may be stuck or missing. Just remember all this is very precision and must be kept very clean and...

    803a Problem

Well, just block off the return to the tank and with the pipes to the injectors loose, crank it and see if it primes the pumps.

    803a Problem

It might be worthwhile to measure the fuel pressure at the return line. If it is 5 psi, I would then see if the pumps prime themselves while the gauge is on so there is pressure in the line. I don't know if the return line has any sort of restricter to maintain any pressure but would think it...

    803a Problem

HCSO2332, When you had the pumps out, did the fuel control sleeves rotate easily? Knuckles, It depends on the dump sleeve position. Do the math, 1/2 gal per hour max divided by two. 1/2 gallon is 1892 cc for both cylinders so 946 for one. That is 15 cc per minute, per cylinder, so .017 cc...

    803a Problem

Ok, I rewrote it to be more specific. Interesting that the quote you put completely ignores the final fuel filter. Tom

    803a Problem

This engine does not have an injection pump as most people think of it, it has individual metering pump and injector for each cylinder. It is possibly the simplest system known. You will need to remove just one metering pump. There is a pin sticking down from it that engages in a slot in the...

    MEP-802a & 803a

the 80X units actually have a simpler injection system, hydraulic valve lifters, and you can stand right beside one and talk in a normal voice!! they are incredibly quiet. given a choice I would have an 802/3

    MEP-802a & 803a

the 802, 803 are so much better than the 002, 003 that there is almost no comparasion, of course you really cannot compare an air cooled to a water cooled anyway. just my 2¢

    803a Problem

you still have not said if the solenoid is pulling the shut off lever. first thing to check if you have fuel returning to tank.

    803a Problem

the fuel rack lever gets stuck. it is the lever the solenoid pulls when you turn on the switch for run/prime. make sure it is pulled all the way back or no / low fuel. also pull the speed control knob all the way out. the fuel system on these is self priming, just leave the switch in prime for a...

New NY guy on the hunt for a mep-002a...

i would sell you a completely checked out 802 for that price, even one with winterization kit, so it would start even in sub zero temps. also with very straight sheet matal. and they are MUCH quieter than a 002

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

hank, since the fan clutch is a fixed load you can use a 4 ohm, 40 watt resistor is series to operate it from 12 volts. otherwise you need a vanner equilizer or you will have battery problems. what do the neighbors think?? tom
