Do yourself a favor and invest $200 in a vacuum pump and set of AC gauges. Watch 20 minutes of youtube and you will have the tools and skills to troubleshoot this issue and anytime you have AC trouble with other vehicles in the future. Honestly its not that complicated.
I opted to install the manual "cable type" valve from an m998 that I can control it from the cab manually.
In a pinch, you can use a 1/2 pex ball valve.
FYI, my front unit wasnt blowing cold air. Turned out the AC was fine, but the valve for the heater core was stuck in the open position so it was running heat and AC at the same time. Easy fix.
And yes, anyone with standard equipment should be able to diagnose and recharge the AC.
Btw just got my truck weighed (m1151), its around 7900lbs empty. GVWR is 15,500. So it can haul another 7,600 pounds. I suppose it's a 3.8 ton truck? Lol
Pretty sure the "1/2 ton, 3/4 ton," etc nomenclature talking about civilian trucks is all but meaningless anymore. Its basically slang and has no correlation to actual payload ratings. Trying to categorize the military HMMWV the same way is futile and pointless.
For DMV purposes they are only...

If you go this direction, just make sure it is properly fused, and the fuse needs to be located as close to the battery as possible. (I used to be a radio installer professionally).
Mine was a runner with no CDR valve and no air filter. I addressed those things immediately and have not had any problems.
I did have to start it with those items missing to drive it off the truck. That made me nervous but I checked inside the airbox for water and debris before starting it.
Green wire is either for an accessory that is no longer installed, or its a field repair of some sort. Factory humvee wires are black. I would trace it out and see where it goes.
If you take a right-rear door and put the skin and hardware on backwards, and then install it on the left side, the top portion of the door will be angled outwards and not sealing against the body.
The lower portion will possibly line up and latch.
You might be able to bend the frame to get it...
I would personally never put bedliner on a humvee. I feel like bedliner on anything but a truck bed is a fad. People will look back on it and say "can you believe people used to paint bedliner on EVERYTHING!?"
Also I'm pretty sure its a one way street, I doubt you'll ever be able to fully...
