I had a M1008 that seemed to leak worse when towing or trip driving than putting around town. It turned out to be
a cracked Transfer case adapter. I don't know if it was higher temps/ more fluid moving/ slight vibration that caused
it to leak more. I do know a new adapter fixed its problem...
I didn't get to my project today - plans changed as usual. One handy tool to have is a Tubing crowsfoot wrench to fit the injector lines at the Injector Pump. I use one and a long wobble extension with a 3/8" breaker bar or ratchet. Works good for those hard to get at bottom lines.
The military considers the M1008 a 5/4 ton also. The M1028A2 and M1028A3 are single wheel trucks (M1028 ) converted in the military to Dual wheel trucks.
M1008
The M1008 does not have the NP205. It has a NP208 like the M1028. The M1028A1 should have a NP205 also the M1031 cab and chasis has the NP205 but is usually equiped with a contact maint body.
Checking in to see what model trailer this is. The auction description listed it as a 1.5 ton trailer and I almost didn't look at it thinking it would be a M105. Well I know it is not a M105. The auction is closed and it is mine to go pick up. Just wondering what I am getting ? Thanks in...
To date this is what I have found on the 73 to 86 C/K and 87 to 91 R/V series Dual Rear wheel trucks 2 or 4 wd that were factory built :
Cab and Chasis DRW (Crew cab or Std Cab) : Narrow 14 Bolt Dually rear
Pick up DRW (Factory Mounted Fleetside Box) (Crew or...
No help
I wasn't in any real hurry the day I had my pick up there. Since I was on my own loading I just took my time. He seemed to get a bit impatient, but I didn't care that day. He finally said I would have to sign the paperwork because he had some trucks he had to load. I signed them and...
Dually rear questions
Wrong - Dana 70 (Dual rear wheel) rear was also factory installed on standard cab trucks. Here are my questions for the Chevy truck gurus. Was there ever a wide track 14 bolt (DRW) ? So far I have only seen the wide track with the dana 70 (DRW). Next question. Was the...
Low mileage trucks
I agree 100%. Low mileage trucks are still out there. Some of the crowd always says its 100,000 plus or the odometer has been changed yada yada yada. I know that happens, But I picked up a 86 M1028 last year from GL with 2600 miles. Yes I realize it is not a new truck...
check valve
If the check valve is intact and clean it is hard to see because it is clear. Maybe the ball was knocked out. I usually use the plastic straw from a carb cleaner can. The ball is spring loaded. If you push against it it should push back. Good Luck
Depends on the site. Up until my last recovery I would have agreed with WM and Papabear, but my last recovery at Chambersburg I was on my own with a K-30 dually missing one set of rear duals - drum etc. I asked nicely if they would pick up the back of the truck with a forklift while I winched it...
This one is the Southwest version. It is missing the welder generator. I have two wisconsin welder generators I hope to make one good one out of the two.
I am happy with single rear wheels. But the dually ones are cool.
Does your truck have the welder generator ?
Bringing up an old thread. If I have a 1986 NP205 transfer case that was behind a TH400 can I take a early 90's 4L80e 2wd trans remove the tailhousing shorten the trans output shaft to get the correct stickout, then bolt the stock 400 adapter and NP205 to the 2wd trans ? I think 1986 is the...
