I'm good with a drive in and meet. There are several weekly meets and greets in my area. Winters car show and Vacaville has a couple weekly car shows and coffee meets and greets.

That's exactly what I would recommend. I've done mine in mat black grill paint with no issues and several long trips.

My understanding is the drying time is pretty quick but the curing time can be 30+ days. I think you'll be fine putting it outside. It'll probably cure quicker in the sun.

I've had mixed results with zipper boots. The original ones on the truck held up for years. Once it got torn, I replaced with a Northstar? part. Boot failed in a couple months. It acted like the grease melted the boot. Contacted the seller and he shipped a different manufacturer's boot. No...
