Well, good to know we've found the problem! Now you need to take the side cover off the motor and unscrew the pressure relief valve tube that screws into the back of the oil pump, next to the pickup tube. Item #1 in the TM image.
Take it apart and clean it good! It has a spring loaded check...
Normally I am more than willing to help anyone in any way I can, but unfortunately I think sharing my drawings would be a bit like shooting myself in the foot.
It's easy enough for anyone to copy my design, but giving out the dimensions would make it virtually effortless for others to copy...
Agreed... It's an NPT tapered pipe thread, a little thread sealer and screw it in.
But if you put it in dry and it's not leaking, don't bother removing it to add thread sealer.
The soft brass will usually seal itself pretty well, as you noticed!
Kurt is our resident expert on the 831, he'll get you straightened out.
Start with his controller and see if that solves everything.
Make sure you adjust the linkage rods 100% by the book otherwise it will never run right, no matter what you do with the controller.
I just re-read your previous thread where you disassembled the unit and I have a question on the rotor.
In the other thread you mention you took apart 2 machines, one came apart easily and the other ( this ) machine you had to fabricate a "Pusher" to jack the rotor plate out of the flywheel and...
All good info!
Without these details we would have assumed it was the original engine ( with unknown hours ) and that it was at one point working correctly.
Now we have better information.
Did you run into any issues with the flywheel , rotor plate fitment or the gen end cap / bearing when you...
What are the chances that you can take a video of the suspect machine running?
Also, is the vibration the only known issue?
Have you load tested it to 100% output?
Does the exhaust run clean from about 0% to about 80%, then a little black smoke as you approach 100% load?
Excess vibration could...
Sounds like you have some kind of alternator issue going on... However...
It can not simply be that the alternator is dead or fuse is blown because you are not just using up the residual fuel left in the lines.
You need a substantial amount of current at 24V to keep the fuel solenoid open, so a...
I found 1 matched delivery valve set left in my parts stash.
Checked it and the needle is sealing perfectly within the holder.
I'll send you an email shortly.
Ok, let me look when I get home.
I had 3 or 4 of them, but have sold a few, but pretty sure I have 1 or 2 more.
Do you think your needle is not seating in the holder, or is the holder leaking where it seals against the main body?
I suppose the other question is how do you know what's happening...
So in about 3 weeks we should see a low hour "10Kw. Diesel generator" pop up for sale on the internet with the owner claiming that you can "Dial in" the frequency.....?? Or just not saying anything at all??
Seems we've had several of those over the last couple years.... Owner buys a...
I almost wish I could buy back ALL the ones from the first few years!
BUT... sales have dropped WAY down over the last year+ , so I think I'll leave them be!
Back in the beginning you could buy a nice 803 on a trailer for $1400 plus 10% fees and 7% tax.
Throw batteries in it, service it and I'd...
You guys are killing me! You have any idea how many fully serviced and tested 802's I've sold over the years, with under 300 hours for $3000!
And you're getting up to twice that!
How do I go back in time a couple years... seems I've left a lot on the table... ;-)
Yes, it could be rings, and a bunch of other things, but I have had more than 1 machine with a bad oil pressure relief valve.
Especially when the oil is cold and thick the pressure goes too high and the lifters pump up, hanging a valve open, loosing compression and then puffing gray smoke.
As...
