On GM's I always tried to keep the same starter and have it rebuilt. I was having problems with it similar to yours. I replaced the flywheel had the starter rebuilt. Worked good for a while but ground the new teeth. Starter rebuilder kept saying it was not the starter. Guess what I changed...
The way I always did it was to get (4) longer bolts that fit the bell housing.
Remove the (4) lower bell housing bolts install your longer bolts.
Remove Torque converter cover and Starter.
Remove Torque converter to flexplate bolts.
Remove the remaining bell housing bolts.
Disconnect your...
My 1 ton CUCV's have dana 60 fronts and the socket to fit the wheel bearings is a 4 prong socket. It is a larger 4 prong than the 1/2 - 3/4 ton 4 prong socket. One or two trucks have a large nut with bend over tabs I was told this is the replacement version. Does anyone know that socket size ?
I've sprayed it from a cheapo gun before and was happy with the results. It does dull down rather quickly. Some kind of hardner might help- Anyone ever use hardner with rustoleum ? It does seem pretty durable. I sprayed a utility bed used on one of my work trucks and it has been 2 years and...
On a side note. In a pinch you can use a 1/2 ton Early to Mid 80's Chevy truck drive shaft. The 700r4 was very close to the same length as the TH 400 and they had the NP208. Just use a combination u-joint at the rear position. Not as strong but will work.
Not sure about the TH350. Would it work with the 6.2/700r4 flywheel ? Anyone ? The kickdown would probably work with factory parts from a 6.2/700r4 - the T.V. cable bracket/linkage. One good thing about the TH350 is it will work just fine without the kickdown, if you don't mind bumping the...
I have one like that too. I think baking in the sun and not being driven is what does it. I am going to try some denatured alcohol solvent. It seems to be plastic friendly and should be available in the paint section at the hardware store.
I will be traveling from Western PA to Fort Jackson, SC to pick up a truck. I will be going south empty as of right now with a 7000# car trailer. Trailer is a 16' deck with 2' dove tail. Will be towing with a M1031. Date is Thursday 8-6-09. Will be picking my truck up on Friday 8-7-09. Anyone...
Recent auction at creekside - listed Qty as 3 pl "bidder should verify qty". Photos showed a pallet. An inner fender-represenitive of what one would think would be in the pallet. And another view of the inner fender. Long story short it was three pieces - three inner fenders. I guess GL could...
By far the worst GL site I have dealt with. It didn't take long to figure this out. I kept calling to schedule my pickup and no call back for a week and a half !
What does the DUVAC do ? My one M1010 had caught fire before I acquired it. I have been working on it a little bit at a time when I have time. I cut all the wires to the boxes on the fender -(where the fire had started) because the were all burnt up. I cut them back to where they were good and...
