You don't have to use GL-1 in the axles. Use any 80w90 in them that you want, just use the cheap stuff. Glad hand seals and ends are the same and available anywhere. I prefer to just get whole new ones, instead of the rubbers. They are cheap enough.
As far as the trailer goes, if it has both...
Right now this is what I'm working on, rear output seal on the transfer case, another park brake drum, because mine has been warped since I got the truck. I'm tired of replacing mustache springs and inner shoes, and hearing the rattle. And of course, the stupid park brake cable broke off when I...
You know I'm just ragging on you right? I just want to make that clear, because I know of it can be hard to tell sometimes when you are just reading something. I'm only here to make friends.
You do have a nice new truck, and maybe, just maybe someday you will find the extra room and cash, and...
That is laughable. Forget that. Buy one that is a known good truck from one of us. Let them sit on that sucker until it rots, or they get real.
I'll bet they can't sell it, then they call Boyce back, and Boyce will offer them $500.
Those pistons may be for the LDS 465-2, less rings for higher rpm. These engines always have blowby. I know that doesn't make you feel any better after all that work, but I don't know what else to tell you, unless you want to tear it back down and put your old pistons back in with new rings.
I dunno Rusty, from the video it only holds 35 mph uphill. Can't imagine higher gears would help, but you seem more in tune with that stuff than me. What do you think?
Ok, reviving this again because mine is leaking and I've found some pertinent information that isn't here.
The NSN for this part is 6680-00-864-3018.
If you Google it, it comes right up. Parttarget lists multiple listings for it, and I have requested a quote on one unit. Will advise on...
I'll give that a try. Will have to find a flat area, as both directions leaving my house are slight uphill grades, but I may try here anyway. I've never posted to YouTube either, so I'll have to figure that out. Must not be too hard if millions of other morons can do it.
The 8.3l is just a 5.9 on steroids. You can drop one of those in ( and probably get one for $1500) and you won't have to worry about a liner ever again. Plus, they share many parts with the 5.9. Easy to maintain and find parts for. And then you don't need to change the transmission out either.
I certainly wouldn't mount it to the axle, as bad as these trucks are about loosening u-bolts and breaking front suspension mounts. You will probably want to build your own subframe.
It isn't nearly as easy to use a pressure bleeder on the dual circuit system as the old single circuit system, because you don't have the 1/8" fitting on the cap. The old pedal push method is probably the most common way to do it, just like any normal vehicle.
While this is true, when you get water on a powered circuit with components like capacitors, transistors, resistors, etc, it does in fact cause component failures almost every time.
