It runs for a bit, then dies, then restarts and moves a bit, then dies.. that tells me fuel is getting by the filters, but once you put a load on the motor it uses fuel faster than the fuel can get past the filters, then it dies. Let it sit with the lift pump running, and it catches...
Either the vent is plugged and you are pulling a vacuum on the tank until it won't pull fuel anymore, or your primary fuel filter is plugged, or, like I told you, that pump wasn't enough to begin with, and now it is failing. You may have also sucked a piece of trash up against the pump intake...
You guys are saying the same thing. Neither of you are wrong. The OP found his problem, so let's not clutter his thread up with arguing the same point.:p
Just finished installing my new seat base, with tabs welded on to support the four point harness that came with my seat, half of which has been laying on the floor under the seat uninstalled for over a year now. Got it all adjusted up and it sure feels much nicer than just the old lap belt.

Pinion seals, greasing, and packing hubs, and found one wheel cylinder that I didn't like so I changed it while I had the hub off.
Good deal. Now when you put your new lift pump in, and remove that old pump, you will see a noticeable increase in power that you didn't even know was missing.
If you really get stumped, or need help with something, let me know. I know these trucks almost inside out. I've been daily driving mine for years now.
Assuming you don't have a shorter wheel base model, like an M275. The shaft you got probably wouldn't go in at all if that was the case though. They are considerably shorter.
It was probably vacuum, not air pressure. If it was pressure, your vent is crushed shut, or the spring cap on the end is faulty.
