Installing my glowplug button - few ?'s

Is the resistor still in place? It might have failed. When the full load of 8 glow plugs is applied the resister should drop the voltage to the glow plugs to 12 volts or pretty close. The resistor must have the load of all the glow plugs to drop the voltage down. If some are burned out the...

Need M151 moved from Atlanta GA to Michigan or closer to Michigan

I actually have my own trailer. I thought about driving down with the family and renting a trailer on the way back to say towing all the way down but Uhaul will not rent any trailer to someone driving a newer Ford Explorer. It has the trailer towing package and is rated to tow around 5000 lbs...

Do I have a bad starter?

Most of the times a click under the dash and no start is the troublesome cucv starter relay. If is mounted under the dash with a couple of other relays. It is an AC-40 if I remember correctly. Sometimes it sticks open and will crank the truck even though the key switch is off. I have had it...

    Rattle Just After Startup

You can get a mechanics stethoscope to pin point the noise. It is like a doctor's model but it has a long rod. You basically probe the stuff that might rattle like the water pump, alternator, and such. When you come to the part making the noise you will know it as the noise gets much louder. You...

    Identify

I would say it is a gasser based on no air cleaner on the passenger's side fender.

    Hauling a deuce

I hate to differ but call your local commercial enforcement officer at you local PD, SO, or State Police. Calling DMV can get trying at best. I had one woman at the local SOS (Same as DMV) tell me I needed to get a 23000 plate for my F-350 because it had a flat bed. She told me I would be...

Need M151 moved from Atlanta GA to Michigan or closer to Michigan

This will be a bump to the top. I should have the money in the next couple of days. I am told it would not be good to flat tow as the tires are not the best. I will post on uship if no SS member can help. I talked to the the leads already given except AMGeneral but I do not plan on going to...

    Hauling a deuce

As I said do a search and read what I have written about this before. The other post stated federal law requires a cdl and that is not true. I the one that writes the tickets so I might have some insight into this. Some states require a non cdl class of license for big trucks or certain...

    Hauling a deuce

For the people calling for a CDL, it is not required if he is not hauling commercially. If he is hauling his own property home then he does not need a CDL. For the new guys to the site you can check out my rant by doing a search.

    What does this connect to??

The bubbles scare me. That sounds like a bad head gasket. Even if the cap is bad that will only control when the coolant exits to the over flow. If the overflow is filling up then something is forcing the coolant out. The overflow is only there to account for the thermal expansion of the...

using existing air tank for other tasks?

Yes. The military had an air hose with attached air chuck attached to a glad hand that goes on the emergency connection at the rear of the truck on the passenger's side. There is also a valve and connection on the inside firewall on the passenger's side. The valve in the cab has a pretty small...

Pics from floor replacement on M1009

Mine had a regular work truck style rubber liner with the sound deadening pad on the back. Like carpet but with rubber instead of pile carpet. No undercoating was on anything.

    Lot of Jeep questions

The did have mix master jeeps with different stuff. I do know that some jeeps ended up registered by the year they were surplused and not the actual year of manufacturer. And while I am at it, why are you not posting pictures?

    12 V starter motor for 3K Generator

If the genset was set up to charge the battery then you would need to charge the battery with a battery charger. The 24 volt battery for them is the 4hn. It is the size of a 51 group battery but has 12 cells for 24 volts. I got a couple dry off ebay for my gensets. If you already had a 24 volt...

    Home Made Plasma Cutter...

The article has been removed when I checked it a few minutes ago. All that was left was the comments section.

    Home Made Plasma Cutter...

Ok. How many OSHA violations? I got mine for about $600 and love it. It goes as a tig and stick welder when needed.

    keep or sell?

The glow plug system on the Humvee is different. Anything can be done with enough welding wire and electrical tape but I would say you should just fix the one you have or bypass it with a pushbutton.

    Heater not working

There is a resister inside the heater housing that provides low and med heat settings. It basically drops the voltage. You may have a problem with it. Most of the time when they go bad the heater works on high only. Basically the power comes from the switch and goes to the resister. Then from...
