To be more specific, it was adopted on August 15, 1944. I think they were first used on the M8 Greyhounds. They have been around a while but were not extensively used on trucks till much later. I think the M36 was also still in inventory until very recently.
Actually the Americans did it back in 1926. A converted tractor with the screws attached. The video is silent with the pop up narration.

Later in the video you can even see a 20's Chevy car conversion.
Russians ripped us off again.
There is a gap around the u-bolt that clogs up easily. I was able to get all the stuff out and my U bolts were still intact. Everyone should check their trucks and clean out the gap. You may find your u-bolt in a similar condition.
Looks a lot worse than when we picked it up. Pulling the mat out was like pulling the thread on a sweater. Hard to believe a truck in such good shape could have this much rust in the floor.
The key to my statement was guys driving on the freeway. Most do not drive plow trucks at freeway speeds. My M1009 would put out great heat. Yours must be defective. Trade it in or I could sell you mine. It has new floor boards and rocker on the driver's side. :driver:
More work completed. I worked the seams with bondo and tried to correct some problems with the cheap panel. Still has a few problems that I may work on later or I may let if fly as is. I am probably putting in a new rubber liner so it small problems should not matter. I pulled it out and turned...
When that trailer was "accepted" the new trailers like it would be a M105a3. The X is dropped and the E is changed to an A. So basically you have a very early M105a3.
I know GA might not have experience with this but even in below freezing weather a truck with a plow on it will over heat with the plow on the front. One must angle the plow or lower it enough to provide the airflow while on the freeway. This is in the winter. I would bet on an overheat...
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! The wife found the hidden emails on this deal. Shhhhhhhhhh. No one better talk. She said I have an expensive hobby. I told her that all my stuff does not even amount to half a bass boat.
Steve,
I saw your posting about the tractor on the G. That is a nice looking HST. I wish I could find something like that cheap on this side of the state.

If you are frying glow plugs fast you need to find the reason before doing the bypass. I understand that your controller might have fried and the bypass is necessary now but find out why the glow plugs fried so fast. I don't think the controller could have taken out the glow plugs unless it was...
In Michigan there is not tax when vehicles are transferred from a family member. You might check on it. I have long since gotten rid of my Tennessee law books but I would at least call and see if there is an exception for transfer from family members. You will only avoid the sales/use tax not...
Sometimes things just come together. It looks like the planets aligned on this one. Thanks for the help Phil. I am waiting to hear back from the seller.
