How much height adjustment in the GSS seats?

I'd hook air to it and measure, but I'm unwilling to hack on the special fitting. How much travel is there from bottomed out to fully inflated? The manufacturer's site doesn't say. Also, I've seen a bunch of them in M939series trucks. Anybody have comments on putting one in an M809series...

    500 Gallon Tank on a M116

The 1102 chassis when in LTT configuration will handle a GVW of 4200lbs comfortably. And weighs something like 1000lbs empty. Personally, I'd rather overload it slightly with the full 3500lbs payload than have a payload that sloshes. I can't tell what what trailer is from the pic. It may...

    500 Gallon Tank on a M116

Is the tank baffled? If not, slosh of a partially filled tank will be impressive.

Please help settle an argument over tire size

Presumably the selection criterion is that he already has it.

@Artisan has one. He may have useful information.

    D.O.T Weight scales.

Pickup truck with a welder in tow. They came out of the weigh station and stopped me. South Dakota. Told me anything over 8k or anything towing anything other than an RV has to stop. Not really relevant to OP's question. TX has no interest in military vehicles. I've never stopped at a weigh...

How Slow is a 6.5 NA HMMWV Really?

These things are slow. About half the seat of the pants power of a modern jeep, which I wouldn't exactly describe as powerful. Personally, I'm good with that. If I want to accelerate briskly, I use a different vehicle. This isn't the tool for that task. But if you can't stand a two digit...

How Slow is a 6.5 NA HMMWV Really?

If that's the case, there's no way you're going to be satisfied with the 6.5.

    My DIY tow bar

The thing about MIG welding is that with some practice you can get nice pretty welds that look great. Getting welds that penetrate is a bit harder. Especially with 120V machines. And the only way to know if your welds are penetrating is to have them destructively tested, until you *know*...

    My DIY tow bar

With military issue towbars being cheap and plentiful, I would be extremely reluctant to fab one just from the standpoint of liability if things go sideways. When I do fab something that will be used on the road, I try to make sure that the part I fab won't be the first thing that breaks if...

    guij

I speculate, and that's all it is, that it runs a risk of gumming things up.

Howes diesel treatment. Most bar oil I've seen has additives to promote adhesion and prevent it from slinging off. It woukd not be my first choice.

Using a 5 ton as a towing vehicle?

The thing about the wreckers is they're already heavy and slow. The truck tractors are the most nimble and maneuverable and woukd be my first choice for towing a heavy trailer.

    What will this cost?

Axle boot. Trivial part to buy and an afternoon (or less) to replace.

    Passenger seat and battery cover.

These are the same in all the HMMWV variants? Thanks

    Civilian armoring the HMMWV

4x8' sheet of 3/8" steel plate is 500lbs or so. You've said you want to armor substantially more than double this amount of surface area. Therefore the 1000lb limit is incompatible with the use of 3/8" AR500. Ballistic glass is UV sensitive and not only becomes opaque, but also loses its...

Charge / Tend HMMWV via slave port

Charge them 1 at a time with a 12v charger for best results. That said, I've used a pulse tech charger through the slave port at 24v.
