What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I replaced my hood with one of the new ones out of Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, Ca. Not a huge job, but be prepared for spinning nut plates and stripped bolts. I did it for the new insulation as mine was falling apart and my hood was rusting some. I also reinstalled my bridge plate. Now I just...

SWEET! I got my hood changed out today, and all Dan has for snorkels are the mushroom type. Will finish the hood tomorrow.

    LMTV vs 5 TON

The M939 series is going to cost a lot less to aquire and maintain in operation. The LMTV/FMTV family can be costly just to get one and if you have any problems it will suck on ALL of your bank accounts. But that is my oppinion.

Confused with filling SF-97 form, Please help

Year of manufacture=Delivery date May 08 VIN=serial number 06761 Manufacture=Silver Eagle Manufacturing Weight=Gross weight 3400lbs Usually when you title it in your state they will want the trailer length too. Just measure from the hitch eye to the rear. Hope this helps you.

    What civilian batteries to use?

I am using 2 group 31's in my M923 and they work great. You just have to build or modify the battery hold downs under the seat.

    M939-A2 Series M927-A2 Driving Question

I feel the 2 to 1 hard downshift is somewhat normal. I agree with the others in checking the modulator cable for binding and proper adjustment.

M923 with roll cage and tall hardtop

I was hoping those cabs would roll through GL too. I wanted a bunch of the parts that are in them and liked the gauges in front of the driver instead of in the center of the dash. Darn it all.

    Oshkosh M1070 HETT

I was told that with a full load (M1A1 on M1000 trailer) they got 1.8 gallons per mile, not MPG. Neat toy but I am happier with my M923.

Have you checked with Boyce equipment on that stuff. I know he has a bunch of the wood one, not sure about the good fiberglass ones though. I agree, everything is cheaper east of the Mississippi.

    any cucv's in utah...lets play

If it is mechanically sound who cares what it looks like. That will be a fun rig to play with. If we all manage to get together for an outing at least a couple of us have winch trucks just in case. Alexsha, you aren't mad at me over the cargo covers are you? I do have 2 excellent use ones...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I have finally gotten all my PTO drive and winch controls in my M923. Now I just need a few gallons of 10wt to finish and test. Then I have to put on my new hood and replace the rear T-case output seal. Then there is no more work on it till I break something.
