Gotcha, I was curious to that part, and was wondering if there was a better version available for them.
Oh well, I guess I just need another and I will be golden.
Still odd how that stud completely fried in the solenoid like that.
Thanks guys!
I already put a spring on the manual setup and used it like that to get my trailer the other day. I need to make a better version of the return spring I have on there, but I will continue to use that setup with any newer setup I get.
Will, thanks. If there not any upgrades, then...
Lines were correct, and it rolled fine and pressurized the tank on the trailer just fine.
Couldn't really tell if the trailer brakes worked normally in sync with the truck. Didn't feel like locking up the tires, and wanted to get home without causing more issues then needed.
Valves were open as...
Yeah, I was hoping you would be around to have some fun driving the 818. But I am only a few miles away now, so no more excuses ;)
Super singles on the trailer would be cool, but man would any load on the back of that thing be SUPER TALL!
Let alone the cost of them.
But, you never know how it...
Ok, so I was having a hard time starting the 818 yesterday, and when it DID start, it would just SHUT OFF. A little head scratching later I figured it HAD to be the fuel shut off solenoid. I turned the knob and it fired right up!
Anyways, I went to check the wires to the solenoid, and they were...
First, a big thanks to Aaron for storing this trailer for me, and for Maurice for picking it up for me (my 5 ton wasn't up here yet).
Went over to Aaron's place yesterday and hooked to my newest trailer!
Backed under it and had a nice solid engagement of the 5th wheel pin (first hook on this...
1" dual hammer impact works even better ;)
I use anti-seize on all threads, but use the impact for turning them.
I DO know what you mean though. If you don't have an impact, this isn't too bad of an idea.
Don't shift to 3rd gear in high, shift into low 5th gear. In my truck, with the 16.00 tires, I have to drop gears on the hills in southern OR/CA. 5th gear low range will maintain a few more mph then high range 3rd gear. Which really makes all the other trucks around you a LOT happier....
D turbo with the longer napa muffler made a nice difference. I can drive around town, etc. without hearing protection. But I still use GOOD ear muffs on longer trips.
I had a 4" muffler on it for a while, and the extra size in diameter made it a deeper and more 'throaty' sound, more like a big...
Well, I know for my 16's, the tire has a higher limit then the rim itself does.
Just something else to keep in mind. The Hemtt rim has a lower PSI rating and load rating compared to the tires. And that is the weakest link, so all the higher ratings are a moot point beyond what the rim can...
I wasn't worried about the CDL, I was concerned about paying through the nose for registration and insurance on a vehicle that will not get used enough to justify the costs.
Heck, I thought about registering mine for 80k to cover my bases, but I would have to use the truck enough to pay for...
Hmm, same boat as you, and I have a 5 ton, but I WILL be pulling a trailer (mainly to carry my MVs around...) just trying to figure out which state will be better off.
Of course I am more worried about the continual COST of registration, taxes, insurance, rather then the CDL part of it.
Oh yeah, they look NICE on that truck!
How do you like the way they ride?
And how much more power do you think you have compared to stock and the big tires?
I have been considering doing something like this. To have a second set of tires when I need to either do some HEAVY hauling, or if I will be towing a lot through the hills.
I just don't want to loose my cruising speed that the 16's offer, and the COST of a second set of rims and tires are not...
