By the way, as soon as I get a darn replacement cable for my camera I would like to make a tutorial on how to disassemble, service and reassemble parts specific to the G749. Things like the Air Pak, bearings and seal replacement, wiper motors, even the air compressor when mine eventually bites...
I am about 90% sure that the M35 air packs and 5 ton air packs THEMSELVES will not work. It's the internals of the 5 ton air pack that can be used on our GMC air packs. I briefly recall reading something about this on the board sometime way back.
Do you know exactly what model of 5 ton? I am...
Seems these can be very difficult to find for the GMC AIR PAK. Nobody I know of has them. From what I have heard other kits for other AIR PAK's can be used but there is usually 1 or 2 seals that are not compatible. Has anyone recently rebuild theirs and with what?
Awesome! What did you use to apply the paint? I was thinking of picking up a cheapo HVLP gun from Harbor Freight and just spraying the rest. Don't know if Behr can be sprayed or not though.
After having used both brands side by side, the Behr Premium Plus Ultra Exterior gets my vote over the Valspar Duramax Exterior.
The Behr has a nicer color, goes on MUCH smoother showing almost no brush or roll marks. It's cheaper, It thins very well and dried very hard. Compared to the Valspar...
Well now that the truck has fully dried from the rain squalls and I have had a chance to hit some areas with a scraper to get started I found the reason why a few areas bubbled up. Apparently latex paints need a long time to cure, the Behr says up to 2 weeks or more before it can get wet. A...
Awhile back I made the decision to paint my 54 GMC deuce with regular old latex house paint from my local home improvement store. I tried both Behr Ultra and Valspar Duramax. Both are exteriors, paint/primer in 1, flat. I had the colors matched using a NOS part off the truck. I painted less than...
Not much to update. Half repainted. Got my voltage converter for the ignition and other 12V stuff I want later. Air Compressor has been rebuild and pumps air by hand, mounting next. Air tanks cleaned out. Need some new fittings and a couple new hoses, blow out all the air lines soon. Got my budd...
Cool! A M35A2 is next on my list of needs...wants. But I'll still always love my GMC. They're quieter, smoother, stop better, heavier spring packs, roomy cabs and better overall fit and finish. When you think of the GMC next to the Multifuels it's like comparing the M1 Garand to the M16.
Well never mind, I finished the compressor and have it on my 455 block. The lines are pretty self explanatory when you get it on there. Seems I always end up answering my own questions......compressor works and pumps air by hand. Now to see how well it puts out air when attached to a 455!
I know this is a pretty fair favor to ask, but can somebody here take some pictures for me of their GMC's compressor? I need pictures of each line coming off the compressor and what it hooks up to. If someone could even put a note next to each line describing what it is (vent, oil line, water...
How odd, anytime I have talked to Jack he has always told me that if I needed a part I could just drop by, pickup some tools and go get the part off a truck myself as he does not have time to do small stuff like that. Of course, my truck is a M211 and I believe he said he has several dozen parts...
