How about from the fill tube. My first A3 didn't have a dipstick and when I fired it up,it puked a bunch of fluid out. Found out that the breather was plugged. Could it have built up pressure and blew the dipstick out enough to empty the fluid?
It looks like the main bearing with the thrust may have generated some heat. Looks like the crank has turned color. This could a surface heat treatment from the crank manufacturer but I would drop that main cap just to make sure.

Just out of curiosity, my 923 will lock the spring brakes when I pull the control on the dash. A certain 936 that I have access to will not lock the brakes when you pull the control out. It will only dump the air when you lift the e-brake handle or engage the crane pto. Although my 923's air...
Should be one of the two 1/8" pipe plugs on the right side just above the oil pan. I don't know which one id which. I would guess that the front is pump pressure and the rear one is reverse pressure. But it's a guess.

People better watch out when I'm on the road with my 923 because I would have done just what diverman did. Everthing well controlled. And his last post was unedited by the mods....[thumbzup]. What about pulling the spring brake control? This would engage the emergency brakes right?
What are one of those 1061 trailers worth in scrap. Maybe I could pick one of those up when I come out and choose a 923? :-) I hope that this sob thief doesn't ruin it for everyone. Too many good parts to get scrapped.
