Well I would like to know where there are M816 parts too. Just in case I buy one from an auction that is coming up on one of those sites that liquidate government surplus. But I won't mention that I would like to know where there are M915 parts too because I need those. So to answer the OP's...
The 915's have 4:44 gears and the axles are made by Rockwell. I would assume that the 915A1's would be the same but I just looked at the 915A1 tag and the axle was made by Eaton with no gear ratio.
He didn't ask for parts. He asked for information on where to get parts. Now when he finds out that there are parts out there to be had, he can post a want add in the classifieds. I guess that you could classify every question on this site as a want add.
I was informed that you must put the trans in high gear on the 936 and run the truck at full throttle in order to get the transmission to shift into high gear to run the crane. You can run the 816 at idle in 5th and be happy.
If the older trucks are going to be grandfathered in, then I'm going to buy every surplus vehicle that i can buy....Ohh wait. I already am. I just planted a couple of new trees in my yard so I should be exempt for a few more years.
