Starter Motor Bolts - Which Ones?

I was in the middle of refuelling one time when I heard a clink under the truck and saw one of my starter bolts had done the same thing. Broken off right at the threads. Since this is a GM engine I went to a Chevy dealer and bought 2 new starter bolts but when I went to install them I found...

    Stuck oil filter HMMWV

Get a large socket that will fit the oil filter adapter and remove the whole assembly then you can do this job on the workbench.

    My New HMMWV

I was in the Navy and don't feel uncomfortable at all driving a woodland camo HMMWV ambulance around. I tekk people that most gray things are too big to collect! Its not like you're driving a snow camo truck around Aspen in the winter. Here in California very few people are going to run into...

    Shakespeare SF-3512 base problems

I found a company down in Los Angeles that's willing to make up the coax a cm longer to correct the breaking problem. The BMA connectors are a little hard to find but available and the N connectors are easily found online.

2000 M1123 Fuel Sending Unit Test Procedure

Yes, they are polarity sensative. If you look at the connectors you will see one is smooth and one is ribbed. They need to be connected ribbed to ribbed and smooth to smooth.

    What is this part?

It's the RPM sender for the STE/ICE test set. It can be used as the tachometer sender in some vehiclles. It isn't necessary for operation of the truck.

    New M998 Owner - White-Blue Smoke

The prefered oil most of us run in the trucks is either Delo 400 or Rotella. There are synthetics out there that some people use but personally I don't think you stand to gain other than additional expense. Change your oil on an annual basis and Delo or Rotella is fine . I run 15W-40 in mine...

    Dual Voltage Generator - 12v?

Your everyday snailmobiles electrical system will normally run around 13.4 volts and charge at around 14 so the alternator 14v output that connects to the interbattery link is where you'll connect your 12v civy stuff.

    Squeaks driving me crazy..............help

Welcome to the world of HMMWVs. Your windshield pillar should have a label on it advising the wearing of ear protection for a reason! LOL

Installed new rear view mirrors on the X-Doors of my M998. I can now see the right mirror !

The whole mirror setup is a giant cluster****. But then again, so is half of the truck in general. The more time you spend around them the more you wonder if this thing wasn't designed by a 4th grader. There have been so many times I've asked myself, "what were they thinking here?" But in...

    New M998 Owner - White-Blue Smoke

I was just doing some repair work on glow plug connector issues and when I pulled the GP harness out on the right side I had a spare pair of wires hanging there. It turns out the cold advance switch that lives in the block just behind the #8 cylinder had self destructed some time ago. For about...

If you ever need brake pads for the HMMWV H1 and H2 they carry the same calipers from the 1986-1988 Jeep Eagle.

My suggestion is to go over to a Napa store and ask to see one. The ones I bought 20 years ago were American made.

    HMMWV Ground Shunt

With a hidden switch you could also break the posative line to the ignition switch. That way the dash all looks original with the normal 3 position start switch. When you think about it and if you know what your doing there are 100 ways to disable the truck.

Still having starting issues. Glow plugs not working. Changed everything I can think of PLease Help

Your post starts with "still won't start". When was the last time it did? The HMMWV has an interesting characteristic where when the tank is full the IP can get the truck started all by itself, meaning if the truck has a bad mechanical fuel pump it will still start and run. When the tank...

If you ever need brake pads for the HMMWV H1 and H2 they carry the same calipers from the 1986-1988 Jeep Eagle.

That and you can buy brand new front calipers for around $20. These are brand new, not rebuilds. Napa # SDC2421008 for the right front (87 Eagle Wagon) Napa # SDC2421009 for the left front (87 Eagle Wagon) $13.00 Each Caliper rebuild kits with piston seals etc the Kelsey Hayes # XX703342307...

Still having starting issues. Glow plugs not working. Changed everything I can think of PLease Help

Steve is 100% correct on this! If you have one of the LAU boxes installed remove it immediately! They are a fire hazard. They were known to randomly crank trucks until the batteries died or they caught fire. Lau did a software upgrade for free but by then they were all branded 666!

    Fuel pump push rod

There is no wrong way to install the pushrod. It's merely a piece of steel. The gaskets are the same on both sides of the engine block mounting plate so order 2 or them and replace them both. When you go in to do the job remove the right side splash plate. It makes access to the fuel pump...
