Have you ever had your tank dipped?

Yeah, appearing hooked up is the big key. The second tank can carry anything as long as it's not tied into the system. I was thinking along the lines of 'I added some WMO as 'lubricant' to help out the old injection pump on this motor that was designed to run on a different fuel then the...

    4 Inch Exhaust?

I put 4" exhaust and muffler on mine starting at the fender. It still has the stock bottom 3.5" section, then it necks up at the hole in the fender. Sounds good, and runs well, but I didn't have a before/after comparison for EGTs. Just make sure to keep the bends nice and smooth when making it...

    HP and Torque ???

Actually, it is easy enough to get over 1200° EGT just driving on flat to slightly inclined roads if you have the pump turned up. The fact that there is 13k lbs empty, 3 axles, 10 tires, gear sets, etc, and teh shear amount of drag the vehicle puts on the motor will keep you from getting too...

    color scheme

That is an understatement. Especially when you put in your own custom code, and then later have to do updates to the VB program. Btw, if/when you do it, make it a subset of the current scheme so that most changes will be automatically applied (except custom code of course). I run the m715zone...

    Wreckerman's bob deuce pics

How hot is the top going to get with the exhaust that close to it? Otherwise that looks good, and definitely looks useful!

    12v- 24v question

Ok, I was mistaken in how I was describing the setup I was talking about. The system needs to run with a 12v alternator. And it runs through a Series/Parallel switch. http://www.zafr.com/trucktcom/parallel_sw.htm for a quick run down. BUT, I don't think those are rated to keep running the 24v...

    Latest addition to the family

I have my eye on a few M900 series trucks. Just WAITING with baited breath for them to come up! I just won a trailer at FT Lewis, but I had previously go the recent trucks down at the NG in portland (Multnoma, sp?) There are trucks out there, it will just take them time to consolidate a few of...

MY avatar would have looked better with those last two trucks ;) I will wait and be patient though, more are coming. ;)

Ah, so YOU got that one. I bowed out earlier on in the bidding with a good hunch they were going to sell fairly high. Both of those trucks looked NICE!

    12v- 24v question

An inverter would be a much safer and more practical way to go for light loads like this.

    12v- 24v question

http://bus.getdave.com/Docs/12Von24V/ Has some good info on 24v systems needing to run 12v. It doesn't show the system like the ones I have seen though (probably because of the 24v charging system). The stated reason for not running both 12v and 24v at the same time is listed as: "This is...

    12v- 24v question

Most pyrometers are self powered (the heat in the probe generates the small voltage used by the gauge.) With the light in the gauge being the powered part of it (easy swap to 24v bulb.)

    12v- 24v question

Yeah, having CORRECT information is the goal here. Thanks for all you have provided so far though. Hopefully we can get this cleared up. I know it can be done, I only wonder what we would have to change to make it happen? If I only need to get a 12v alternator, and swap a little wiring around...

    12v- 24v question

Oh yeah, I was planning on putting a solargizer on each battery, which would help keep them topped off fairly well.

    12v- 24v question

Ok, but my dodge, and a LOT of other trucks I know of, run 12v batteries in parallel. I know that replacing those batteries should ALWAYS be done in matching pairs (from the same batch is even better). On the cement trucks I worked on, we had 4 batteries, we had full 12v for everything in the...

    12v- 24v question

Ah, and tell me again why we can't also run the batteries in parallel for a high amp 12v load? I know a number of OTR trucks have multiple batteries (2 or 4), that they run most stuff on 12v(in parallel), and run the starter and a couple other things on 24v. Is the only reason NOT to do this is...
