Wow, I was going to call Gulfway AGAIN soon. I have left a few messages with them and zero response yet.
I have State Farm, commercial policy, so I can do anything I please with it (even make money).
But I pay $209 every 6 months.
And I have a LOT of vehicles on that policy.
Pay more for the...
It's called 'being prepared'.
Taking a few 4x4s with you is just something that should be part of the required equipment.
We are no longer talking about little vehicles that weigh 3-6k lbs.
And you definitely have plenty of room to store a few boards.
Cut a V notch into the end of at least one...
Lee deleted that from the site before he left (among everything else he deleted).
One of the biggest tricks to getting something out that is REALLY STUCK, is to LIFT it out while pulling it, rather then just trying to just winch it straight out.
Putting the winch line over a 4' long 4x4" so...
Didn't you LOOK at the link I posted earlier?
The axle shafts are alloy, in either stock diameter 16 spline, or larger 2" diameter 47 spline (same diameter as the 5 ton axle shafts btw).
Half shafts? This isn't an independent suspension vehicle here ;)
Your still arguing the point, and after schematics show it to be locked.
Good call Tim.
Just to prove it.
If the front axle isn't engaged, you would be just spinning the tcase trying to drive ANY WHERE with just the rears engaged.
You can take out the rear shaft and drive around perfectly...
I don't know, if you stand on the tire, you might have a hard time seeing the engine!
Those buggers are BIG.
Just wish I could get them for those prices here. I would have a couple M900 series vehicles sitting outside instead of my deuces!
Wow, almost thought I was going to win that one!
Still went for a great price. Sure wish I could get one like that over here! That would be purely amazing!!!

Those are about the best axle shafts you can get!
And if you want to put in lockers now, but upgrade axle shafts later, then get his locker.
He can make a few mods to it and it will still work with the 2" 47 spline shafts as well.
I personally favor the deuce as well.
BUT, what if you started the project out with the idea of replacing the entire drive train. Engine, tranny, tcase and axles. Be modern and safer. But keep the outer stock appearance (except the bolt pattern on the rims). I personally detest the 318 motor...
IF (and it already sounds out anyways) you get a cat, the 3116 will last a lot longer if it is under the 200 hp level. Above 240 hp and they are disposable engines. They just can't take that kind of power for long.
I have two in my tow trucks. Not the best option, but they work ok. They don't...
I have one that runs pretty good without the fuel pump running.
It DOES start faster when it runs though.
Started blowing fuses, and now it blows them immediately.
SO, either I have a short, or the pump is bad.
Afraid to change the filters until I have a new pump on hand though. Don't want to...
Air assist, which is NOT air OVER hydraulic, is NOT an air brake system.
Air over hydraulic is what the trailers are that you can pull with a deuce (M105A2 for instance).
In that system the air actually creates the pressure required to move the hydraulics in the brakes.
Air assist is nothing...
For transport only though.
Imagine how little weight could be over the front axles, and having to steer that thing around?
Still, interesting way of securing the load like that.
