Ok, I will see if I can remove the commutator cover. It that the curved piece that is riveted onto the motor case, or is it the rear motor cover itself?
I suspect that the motor will swivel up on its hinge without disconnecting the hydraulic lines. So I'll try that and see if the rear cover...
I got the battery turned 90 degrees and connected it to the forklift. Turned the key and activated one of the lift motor levers. Nothing. Checked with my DVM, and I'm getting a solid 36 V across the terminals directly on the motor.
So I guess now is decision time, do I pull the lift motor to...
Got the battery out. Here are a few pics of how I did it:

And here are the 2 motors (lift motor on the left)...
I ended up working on it a little tonight. :)
Removed the 2 floor boards, and here's what the right side looks like below. That round grey thing in the lower right corner is the hydraulic fluid reservoir for the lift pump. Oil level was right at the full mark and the oil looked brand new with...
I got the forklift unloaded today. Turns out my aluminum ramps are actually rated at 7000 lbs each, but I still added plenty of support under it.
I used a 5 ton come-along to hold it as I drove it down the ramp. Turns out it won't coast when you're not in the seat, so I summoned a helper to...
I have tried firefox as well, made no difference. I had to go into the Java Control Panel and make a security exception for the url of the communication module before either browser would even communicate with the unit, due to how old the Java code is that runs on the controller. The user...
Ah, that explains it. You make it look so easy! Yeah, being able to cut out templates would be awesome. Thanks for the link to the 003 rebuilt. I'll be busy reading that for a while!
Got my Ethernet Connectivity Module today and got the DIN rail installed and the module. I connected the serial cable (which provides power to the module) as well and the Ethernet cable going to my switch. I even installed a ferrite bead onto the Cat 5 cable where it entered the Module for...
Awesome job Jim! Wow, wish I had seen the thread earlier. Where did you get the dark green paint from you used? And how did you make the templates for the white lettering?
**** Jim. If you had posted just 30 minutes earlier I could have saved some money. :) I had just placed an order with GMG for their kit literally minutes before I checked the forum again and saw your link. I had located the individual components in the GMG kit, but once you added shipping...
Good idea! I'll look tomorrow to see if the forks will pop off.
I was able to use a come-along to raise the forks about a foot, and then hooked in a chain to hold them in place, and then released the come-along.

So if the forks will come off, it...
Ah good point. I was forgetting there was no direct connection between the cylinders and forks. Guess I'm just so used to working with front end loaders. :)
I was able to perform a quick test this morning since the battery is almost fully charged now. So I disconnected the charger and lowered the seat down, connected the battery, sat down and turn the key. Sure enough, a pump (power steering?) started purring. I then tried all 3 lift controls...
Thanks guys! Working on charging the final set of 3 cells now. I have found through trial and error that work seems to work best is to start out on the 60 AMP setting until it fails/times out, then switch to the 20 AMP setting and let it fail/time out. Then do another session at 20 AMP, and...
I missed that. I saw some references to the NAPA in a couple of other threads and picked those up. The fuel filters that were in there were also the NAPA 3113s and getting the old o-rings out was a pain, as was putting in the new ones. They were slightly too wide to slip into the groove...
Thanks. Yes, I'll take my time and use extra care. Might still just get a rollback to come assist me. I'm not sure the center plate that drops down on the trailer will be strong enough to hold the weight. I'll need to look at what support is under it. The fork lift is actually too narrow to...
Thanks for the tip. I'll get a Stewart Warner if it turns out to still not give a reading with the engine running.
So I picked up my filters from NAPA (already installed the oil filter a few days ago).
Unfortunately, the center section on these NAPA filters have 4 cutouts where the 003...
Wow, had no idea these things were that picky about ingress in egress angles. I'll be sure to rig something up.
I think with the angle towards the apron to the shop doors, it might work out ok.

Well, assuming it becomes operational once the batteries are restored, I'm going to try backing the trailer up to one of the bays of my shop and use a pair of 10,000 lbs aluminum ramps with some supports and attempt to drive it off. I haven't yet determined if the angles are going to be gentle...
