Disconnect, clean the leads, apply dielectric grease, and visually confirm it is properly connected.
Proper connection verification means look and see. My unit had wires out of place in the dash so gauges didn't work. I needed to do a visual and a continuity test on each circuit.
I see no reason why the ring can’t be made from stainless steel or regular steel bar. Sure there will be slow galvanic issues BUT especially stainless will minimize that.

I would run recommended manufacturer PSI for anything more than off roading. Remember the Ford debacles when they ran 33PSI tires at 20? Tires exploded. People died.
