Bring a board, a friend and common sense. Remove the air intake bonnet on the right side and station someone there with a board to block airflow in tge event of a runaway.
Changed title, moved thread. I do now have the CUCV towing attachments for the front. Hopefully by Oct I can scare up the brush guard. I think I'm going to use deuce rear shackles and mounts for the back as well.
Let me add this for thought. Self energizing drum brakes like you have, are more prone to lock up than a disc setup. With enough force or loose terrain, the drums will always lock before the discs, even on perfectly balanced systems and there are variables in weight distribution/shift and...
All these years I thought 86 was the last year. Until I researched this truck, I would have sworn that it came factory with TBI. I now see that I have been wrong all this time. Standing corrected. As far as rust. I hate it as well. This truck is going to need cab corners soon. The bed deal was...
I sure hope that's not the case. I purchased a new K30 in 1986. 454 and the last yr for a carb. It got atrocious mileage. The following year a friend bought an 87 V30 crew cab. TBI 454 and her mileage was half again better than mine. If this doesn't help, I may return it to dual tanks, as...
No pics on the hook yet. Its on the way down now, maybe later. MPG sucks. I didn't know that they offered this truck with TBI and a carb. RPO showed the carbureted 350. TBI will be installed before winter.
I am home, truck is not but will be today or tomorrow. Things I learned along the way. First, some folks can sleep dang near anywhere. If you are not completely convinced that you are that person, don't take the Greyhound redeye and expect to sleep all night or at all. Second, Murphy's law of...
Pickup complete. Drove the truck to my sisters house and visited for the day. While headed to our hotel room the alt belt failed. Made it in no problem. There is a car quest a half mile away, belt is in stock. Will have it going in the AM and will be on the road.
Thanks Ray. People of Greyhound rival the People of Walmart. For those that know jackets, picture this. 60° outside. Female on the bus wearing teenage mutant ninja pajama bottoms, house slippers and an N2B parka with the hood up. Yikes.
The brake line attaches to the wheel cylinder via a banjo bolt and fitting. A simple bolt and 2 washers crushing the existing copper washers could take that brake out of the equation. That wheel would still need to be bled but you just loosen the bolt.
With all that said I would wager that...
From the angle of the pic it looks like both tires are tucked under the fenders. Usually with the big tires, folks run a spacer between the duals, pushes the tires outside the fenders.
