Why do some people hate military vehicles?

I got 40 acres and a like minded neighbor with a backhoe, I'm good. Since we have a farm I keep several bags of quicklime around to put on the floors of the horse stalls.......yea....that's what is for....the horse stalls. Always remember, a friend will help you hide, a best friend will help...

Ax(le) me no questions and I'll tell you no lies

It was all the Dakota wanted that was for sure. I could almost hear a sigh of relief when I unloaded the axle. Now I have to haul the old axle back to Derek as part of the deal. I'm sure the Dodge isn't looking forward to it.

Ax(le) me no questions and I'll tell you no lies

Let's just say I've had all the axle swapping I can enjoy for a while. My big concern was that once I got the axle under the truck the top heavy SOB would roll either foward or backward. To thwart Murphy I chained it front and back and left enough slack so I could inch it forward into position...

Ax(le) me no questions and I'll tell you no lies

The mission was completed today. Got all the air lines hooked back up and everything adjusted. Took her for a short bumpy ride to seat the axle and make sure nothing is loose. Tomorrow I'll take her on a short road trip to see how she behaves on the hardball. here are some more pics.

    M929 Splash Guards

The reason they have the short ones is to keep from running over them when backing up. The longer ones had a way to hook them up to avoid the same situation.

    Bringing the m35a2 home

I have a Dodge dualy with a 28 foot lowboy and have pulled many deuces (including an M109) and never had issues. If I remember it is not too hard to bypass the scales on I-75.

    M915A1 Fan Clutch

There are bolts mounted on the fan clutch that you can remove and use to lock the fan in place. That will keep it engaged all the time. Usually used when, for some reason, the clutch won't engage when the temp get high enough. Have you checked to see if they are in place?

M923A2 Slow air leak from far rear wheels

I take my super single tires to a local tire place that does big tractor and skidder tires. They removed tire, broke it down and replaced O-ring, put it back together and put it back on the truck for 50 bucks, O-ring included. Best money I ever spent.

Why do some people hate military vehicles?

To get back to the original question, "why do some people hate military vehicles?" There are several possible explainations. I don't think it is the vehicle itself but more what it represents to different people. There are people that don't like the military in any shape, form or fashion. And...

    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Not so much a hint as a commentary on having to work around the elements. If you've seen my thread about swapping out the rear axle on the M923 you know I'm working outside as well. It really sucks since it's raining today and I'd really like to get the truck up and running. I have a 24x60 metal...

    Stuck throttle

In the Army we call that "Pucker Factor". The more dangerous the situation the tighter your sphincter puckers up. Sounds like you had a pucker factor of six maximum.

Ax(le) me no questions and I'll tell you no lies

Once I do some cosmetic work on her she will be pimped out so I can buy something else. I also have the M927 on the block. I got the itch for a HET but I don't have the scratch.

Ax(le) me no questions and I'll tell you no lies

Some of you might remember that I recently bought an M923A2 from GL Hotlanta. It came (at no extra charge) with severe forklift damage to the rear axle and brake chambers. It had been drained of all fluids, the batteries had been removed and it had some slight rust issues but all in...

If you had a huge shop to work in the sky would be the limit.

    Thinking about getting an M35A3

Any engine painted yaller is going to cost big money to fix or replace. For what you will spend on an A3 you can buy a nice 900 series cargo truck or tractor. I moved up to the M927 and haven't looked back. I still love deuces but a FUBAR left knee requires an automatic now.

    M35A3 - No Start - Lost Prime

I have zero experience with the Splaterpiller engine in those trucks but you might call your local CAT dealer and see if they can give you some insight.

    GL recovery. Your experiences plz

Having owned deuces, 800 series 5 tons and the newer 900 series 5 tons in my opinion the cost of owning the new 5 tons is about on par with a deuce when you consider parts are sometimes higher on deuce parts than 5 ton parts. A lot of deuce parts were built just for the duece and thus the cost...

    New Deuce owner here..

Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo: What Clinto said. He is an official "Deuce Guru". Looks like that truck was run hard and put up wet (literally).
