Small town politics can get just as nasty as big town politics. All it takes is one sorehead to screw the pooch and land you in court defending yourself and your toys. You are doing the right thing by researching first and avoiding conflict later.
I live out in the boondocks for various reasons...
If you are going to off road a tractor you should figure out a way to get a few thousand pounds of weight over the 5th wheel for traction. We learned that the hard way in the Army.
Turbos were not put on the multi-fuels to increase power. They were added to decrease the visible emissions (smoke). There might be a slight increase in power but not enough to notice. I have a naturally aspirated engine in the M275 and it pulls as good as the turbo deuces I had.
I bought 4 A3 rims with brand new 395's by mistake and I'll sell them for what I have in them and I have one empty rim. I also have 7 HEMMT rims with deuce adaptors that I will sell since I'm out of the deuce business. Shipping is on you. PM if interested.
They are speaking in terms of a "run away engine" where for some reason the engine continues to get fuel and increase RPM until it self-destructs. This is sometimes caused by fuel in the oil reaching a high level which results in the fuel/oil mixture getting sucked into the cylinders and not...
That would be my guess. You need to get this to the media immediatly. Get the local TV station that has a "Channel 3 (your channel may vary) on Your Side" segment to come out and do a story. Tell them exactly what you suspect and name names if you know them (be careful of slander/libel). There...
If you use an M927 without the super singles you might be ok if you used something like an Airstream trailer. My question is why not pull the RV with the truck and still have use of it for its intended purpose. When I pull my van trailer behind the M927 I'm 62 feet long but if you used a short...
You can't gold plate a turd (well you can but then you just have an expensive turd).
They are an old school engine built to pull but not run with the big dogs.
That may be why the military never added a turbo to the 5 tons like they did to the deuces.
DAMIFINO I'd fill it with fluid and have "Soldier B" pump the brakes while I bled the system. It could be leaking from a wheel cylinder, line or the master cylinder/air pack. Make sure you bleed it starting with the wheel cylinder farthest away from the master cylinder. If you see no leaks right...
As stated above you are close to scrap price but that would be with the bed on it. The botom line is you are buying an old vehicle that has been through the mill. If it came from a fire department chances are they got it through the forestry service who got it from the army. It went through a...
