how do you know it is a 'decent' disk?? if you replaced it recently and the flywheel was not machined, it may slip. both surfaces HAVE to be very smooth for a metalic pad clutch to work properly.
tm, why don't you call someone like memphis equipment. i am sure they have all the gears ever made. i think they will tell you all trans are the same...........

gerhard, if just the input gear set was changed on a 3052, wouldn't that give a od of .86? (maybe this is where the myth of .85 od came from) of course it would effect all other ratios as well, perhaps adversely. isn't it strange that when buying replacement gears, there is only one choice of...
if you did not take the pump off the engine it should not need retiming. the timing pointer for engine timing is under the small cover with 4 small bolts. this timing should not be confused with the ip head timing which is entirely different. this is because the ip head plunger rotates one...
the cylinders on my air locker axles did the same thing after being in storage for years. i put some oil in the feed line and it fixed itself. almost the same arrangement, so i would certainly try that first.

there is only one part number for each gear in the 3053, even if it is an 'A' or 'B'. if there were ever different ratios, there would be other numbers available. the .85 MAY be an anomily from someone upgrading a 3052 by only using the 5th gears and not changing the input set. .85 od would be...
booger, using the dia is not as accurate as using the effective radius for calculations. what is the obsession with big tires? and why not start out in 2nd low range, then 3, 4, 5, then 4th high? you will also notice that the upper torque curve gives max power at 1900 rpm, not 2600.
i think you will find that there are supposed to be copper washers on the bolts for the bearing retainer. anyway i have never done anything special to them otherwise and the last 20 did not leak. as for the vent, how can there ever be pressure in the trans when the input shaft is open to the...
is there any state where full hyrdo steering is legal?? i have never heard of any, i am thinking this is a DOT rule? anything can go wrong of course, but the chances of a maintained system loosing mechanical connection is way lower than that of a hose failing. some piece of debris from the road...
sorry to bust your bubble guys, but you can put tubeless radials on split ring wheels IF the wheel is designed for tubeless like the m-757, m-656. they came tubeless. of course this is a very rare example, but never say never!!
don't kid yourself, all 3053 are the same, forget about the 'A'
all 3053 are .79 od
as to the above mentioned thread, i think there is a great misunderstanding here, more on that later, but it isn't so.
i have the only known set of civilian .71 gears, that i used in my first prototype. they...
very interesting. i can tell you that you cannot put .71 or .69 gears in the trans without other extensive mods, it will quickly weld 2nd gear to the mainshaft.

the old gasket also has a projection at each cyl for the vent groove. pretty easy to see it must stick out 1/4". but i agree head gasket leak, they all seem to ooze until replaced.
