I think Chainbreaker has it correct. I bet when your IP got stuck last time, the plunger guide skipped 90* on the plunger itself.
I had an 002 do exactly the same thing. It would start and run for a few minutes, maybe 10 at most. They it would slowly die out and could not restart until it...
So about a year ago I had acquired a M1061 radio trailer with 2 beautiful MEP-003AASK's, one with 3 hours, the other with 6. One of which I did a nice restoration on, which I had posted pictures of. ( all it really needed was paint work and the typical fuel system work from sitting since 1989 )...
There's just the crankshaft under the blower wheel, no stub shaft, no other pieces in there. I have no idea why they wanted the threads so deeply recessed, but for some odd reason, that's the way they did it.
Uh oh! the picture you show is something I know all too well! Broken plunger on a "Non-Serviceable" American Bosch PSU injection pump. Unfortunately, unless you have a spare in your hands, you are going to have to replace the injection pump with an Ambac M-50 pump.
There are no parts available...
Crusty, the center bolt is the only fastener holding on the blower wheel. I would retap the 5/16" to either 10mm or 3/8"
Then start over with your puller. The one I made was 1/2" tool steel with a 1/2" fine thread bolt in the center.
I was tightened down against the blower with the 5/16"...
The 002's are designed for a pair of 2HN batteries which can still be found at Tractor Supply. Personally I always just get 51R batteries for 002's. They are just about the same size and very common for pretty much every Honda on the road from the 90's through the late 2000's and possibly more.
Guy, don't beat yourself up. For a moment I thought I may have given Crusty the same mis-information because I know for a fact that the 802/803 DOES have a left hand thread and I thought I may have mistakenly said the same about the 002/003 while talking to Crusty on PM. Unfortunately we all...
Hold on, go back to the original post. Why are you using L2-L3 if you are set in 120/240 mode??
You should have 240V between L1 and L3 and 120 between L1-L0 and L3-L0
L2 is not is play unless you're in 208 mode.
Was that a misprint in your description or are you hooked up incorrectly?
Also...
I have some parts, exhaust shutter assy, blower wheel / oil cooler shroud , and oil cooler if you need it,, and the sheet metal around the muffler, the spacers between the head and muffler, but unfortunately no muffler. PM me if you want need any of it.
Ah, yes! When the rubber adhesion of #17 fails, #20 falls down until it hits #19 and the engine now sits crooked.
Still works and runs fine, just looks wrong because it's crooked.
Maybe we can get you pics. On the 002 / 003 the bond is the ONLY thing keeping the motor and gen sitting correctly because the mounts are sideways so the weight is in a shearing action trying to shear the rubber off the metal housing.
Being that the housing is hollow, once the bond breaks the...
Hold on... the pumps in an 802 / 803 make the same sound all the time. They do not slow down once the system is correctly primed. They are different than the magnetic plunger pumps in the 002/003 which slow down to a slow click once the system if full and primed.
Unfortunately the pumps in an...
Wow, great to know. I use the same size filter ( not Fram for personal quality reasons ) on my Case backhoe, 2 60's era Mustangs as well as the 002/003 spin on filter conversions. I have 2 dozen NAPA 1515 filters on hand, so I'll start using them on my liquid cooled's for extra capacity! Thanks...
Not that I have tried it personally but where I work we buy precision ground rubber rollers. The manufacturer takes the aluminum core, molds on the 80D rubber then freezes them and grinds the OD to precision tolerances.
Drilling cutting and machining rubber really sucks. I wonder if freezing...
You should crack open the Banjo bolt coming out of the fuel filter housing. Upon turning S1 you should have immediate flow at the loosened banjo bolt. If not, you will need to start checking your fuel delivery system.
If your system is draining back, simply turning on the pump and letting it...
Good work Scoobyshep. I've run across a few 003's with broken mounts. I think it's probably due to "Agressive handling" and the additional weight of the 4 cyl. motor, It's a pretty poor design, relying heavily on the adhesion of the rubber to the metal outer rings.
I've repaired a couple by...
In addition to the pump lever possibly being sticky also check that the arm isn't rubbing on the hole in the sheet metal where it passes through up into the top portion under the "Close to Run" cover. Have your wife crank it and see if you can give it a little help with your finger. If it's...
You should not be expecting a jet by any means. You will barely get a tiny little dribble ( although it would be at high pressure if you were able to fully contain it. But the volume is so small that you will barely notice any volume at all. I think you may be expecting too much and may...
I just used the make offer and grabbed 2 to stick in the parts inventory.
As for "Matched sets" whenever I replace a transducer or gage I always wire up a cord and use Utility power to set the " system" to about 59.5 hz. ( around here the utility is just shy of 60hz.
This way I now have a newly...
