Yes, 90% of the truck runs on 12V from the front battery. If you use the top alt for an aux battery, how are you going to maintain the lopsided drain on that front battery? Drawing off one battery in a 24V system is called center tapping. It creates an imbalance between the 2 12V batteries...
Looks good on the trip Ray. Your destination is only 65 miles and 30 mountains from me. Enjoy your trip Sir. By the way, the truck looks like its already here in the pics. My driveway is about that steep.
15634661 is the part number for the spacer from the TM 34P. How little I knew. I checked to see if there was a part number for a longer stud but there wasn't. Turns out that the hub and drum with studs came as an assembly on UOC 254 and 254. Need to see if I can get nice pics of that spacer.
It's making some sense. Since the kits were purchased long after production, they have different style rims. These rims may be the issue. I really need to study the parts TM to see if they are listed.
None of the M275 trucks had a spare. They have the short 142" whelbase. The M48 did have a spare tire on the porch. It had a foot longer wheelbase. Only M48 I know of lives with hndrsonj.
Interesting. Did you purchase it that way? I've considered them and was recently researcing longer studs. My truck has the chassis cab 14 bolt but my old K30 had the 70 rear and neither had spacers.
I agree. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Your 454 deal will work out fine. I have a 96 burb still in FL. It has a 454 and 4L80E trans. This is a gen 5 with multiport FI. I'm tempted to go fetch it and use the engine and trans in one of my trucks and scrap the burb.
Only new vehicle I've ever bought was an 86 K30 single cab dually. 454, 400 turbo and 4.10 gearsets. I swear my 77 C30 with a 350 could tow just as much.
If you go to post #2 and follow that thread, you can fix your issues, retain the 24V system, run your rear A/C and have the ability to get replacement alternators locally at almost any hour. The work has already been done, you just have to look.
