    Roadside safety: Stay Alive!

I keep four of these onboard my truck at all times as well. Very useful when towing something you didn't expect to tow with no lights on it. And VERY bright at night on the side of the road. I put three behind my truck and one on the tailgate. I got mine from Autozone for $20 and they have...

    Changing D to a C TURBO

You do need a special socket to remove the turbine and compressor wheel though. I don't know where to get the socket but they can be had. I've never rebuilt a turbo... Yet...

Cold weather gauge issues or actually overheating?

It is either a bad sender or a loss of ground. It is very simple to diagnose these problems by just checking wire condition, cleaning and checking the ground, and/ or replacing the sensor. If the wire is rotted from being oiled down near the dipstick, or has cracked and peeling insulation then...

I'm worried about my Deuce freezing tonight

Larger housing? Which housing is that? It looks like the standard heater housing. I just remove my heater assembly during the warm months for more access.

I'm worried about my Deuce freezing tonight

Have you sealed up the enormous hole around the steering column? Did you see a major improvement in heat output when you bolted the heater box straight to the firewall?

    Hi all, some random questions...

Perhaps there should be a roadside safety thread in the safety forum, if there isn't already. It really is simple though, stay off the roadside to minimize the risk to life and limb. With duals on the rear, you retain an 8 out of 10 chance of being able to get to a safe area to change a tire in...

    FMTV High Speed Gears

A manual transmission always provides better mileage, depending on the final output ratio.

    Red's deuce/camper project

Looks good. Are you bolting this to the frame via some flanges welded to the frame, or just welding it straight to the frame? Edit: I don't mean to hound you, I'm actually just curious. I've been following this thread since the start.

    Hi all, some random questions...

And you can get taller tires with better tread and still retain the dual configuration. Just some important things for you to consider.

Will STANDARD medium towbar pull LMTV?

Doesn't the LMTV use 1-1/8" pins?

    Hi all, some random questions...

If you plan to drive the truck on the road much more than off road the duals have one real advantage. If you get a flat, you can pretty well change it at your leisure, instead of on the side of the road. This is particularly nice around here where most roads have little or no shoulder, or...

M35A2 Continental Multi Fuel - Harmonic Balancer cracked - why?

I would have to suggest metal fatigue over time has something to do with it. Everything has a service life and these engines being unbalanced and vibrating like a junkie stranded in Antarctica is hard on balancers.

    Red's deuce/camper project

Then you may want to consider moving the bed back 1-1.5" by just drilling new holes forward in the bed mounting brackets to make some room for deflection and frame flex it would suck to have the bed or cab contact the winch and break off the mounting bosses or damage the cab.

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

Give the paint a week and see if it cures hard, then go from there. If it doesn't cure you'll want to remove it all and start over.

    Red's deuce/camper project

I've never measured the space between the bed and cab, but it is awfully tight. There may JUST be enough room to squeeze the winch in there. Are you going to be able to reach and actuate the clutch lever from the side, or might you have to cut an access hole in the bed?

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

That's why you are having durability problems. The mineral spirits don't flash off the way xylene does, and it is probably damaging the chemical makeup of the paint to be honest. I'm no chemist but that is my thought on it. do not spray clear over it until the base is fully cured, which may not...
