    The trans was full of good gear oil+Lucas. Chould this damage of happen long ago?? When I got the truck almost 5 years ago. The eng+trans were not hooked up, they were sitting lose in the frame.     There is NO M900 Series trucks. The 5 tons are the M939 Series. The M915 Series include the 915,916,917,918,919 & 920. Here is a PS page that shows all 6 of them and lists the TM#'s for each of them. Hope this hleps. And in the old site there are 6-8 pages of PS's for the M915 Series of trucks

    Check on the pass side of the case is a about 4"X4" cover plate up high. Take that off and you should see the shift rod. The shift fork is held on the rod by a big set screw. If the set screw is lose or gone it will not shift. There is a spot in the shaft for the set screw to lock into. Hope...

    Yes you do not need the thin one in front. But the front axle housing has/needs a seal.

    All you will need is some wrenches. You can just move some lines, no plugs needed. Off the top of my head I'd say 3/8,7/16,1/2,9/16" should do it
