Who says they bought them from GL? If it is a fire station, they paid pennies when they screened them out, held them, and are now selling them for crazy prices. I should have said that they were asking that much because they can't be selling many for those prices.
500 miles??? Do yourself a favor. Have the trucks hauled out. PCTRANS does great work from what I've heard and his rates are very competitive. There is no reason to take any risks. What will you do for insurance and tags? Insurance and tags usually require that you know the VIN #s...
The M109A3 is already a little top heavy. By adding taller tires, you are asking for trouble. I was talking to a guy in the NJ AR NG and he told me that they did not even fully load an M35A2 with singles because the taller tires make the truck a little top heavy.
I hope they inflate properly. I talked to a guy who did that and a few of the tubes were pinched and cut. I am sure it will be fine. Nice rig you've got there. What rates do you charge per mile? I am regularly moving trucks around the eastern US and sometimes further out west.
My prediction: SW will stop selling CARC to civilians. HENTZEN COATINGS has long had this policy. I guarantee there is a newbie somewhere who went into a SW dealer talking about how they were going to re-CARC their deuce. Well, that word gets back to management and you have a change in...
JWALLER is correct. Don't turn your motor faster than 2100 RPMs for any extended length of time (i.e., more than a minute or so...and I suggest not even that long). These are low RPM motors and were designed to run at a maximum of 50-52 MPH. Some data plates say a slightly higher speed and I...
MKCEON is correct. It depends on the exact model of your tank. Some of the later M60 variants inevitably would have been painted 383 green (or CARC camo or 686A tan). The earliest M60s would have been painted semi-gloss (Vietnam era). The tanks used in the 70s and early 80s were painted...
To be accurate, they will fit IF your truck has the standard 900X20s on it. Some trucks are singled out with 1100s and other guys put even larger tires on their trucks. I should also add that some trailers already have 1100s on them and then your 900s (assuming that is what is on your truck)...
Greg, it is only interesting the next time someone uses this info to bid against you. Fortunately, I rarely bid in WI so I will be watching your results.
Chris, don't wait too long because they are releasing all of the CUCVs from the system. I have no idea what "too long" means, but I suggest trying to buy this year.
When I first saw this thread, I figured you were going to post some pictures of a bobbed truck. Seriously, though, I am sorry to hear about this. It sounds like he is maintaining a positive attitude, though.
I think M35A3s are supposed to be included in the deuce forum. There is no separate forum for M939 series trucks or M809 series trucks. They are all included under 5 ton and up.
Another option...take your truck to Allison and have them fabricate one for you. They fabricated a filler tube for me since the M939A2 transmissions have a different filler tube than the other M939 series trucks. Parts availability is what makes an M939A2 a b**** and it seems as if it is the...
HNDRSONJ makes a very good point...adding it later does have the benefit of not having to pay now. However, also factor in your time. It will take a full day to install a winch or a weekend if you are not really pressing to get it done. It would depend for me on the truck. I never buy a...
