Not just price... I hate wasting time waiting for parts to ship. I have 1, 2, and 3 mm thick plastic I would have used just to get my rig done. I also have various shims that can be repurposed. I hate wasting time. But that is just me.
Still, that part is about .001 cents worth if metal and...
Steve, there is no doubt that your work is awesome and your work ethic is top notch.
Steve/RWH, I really respect you and appreciate the help you have given me when I needed it! You do awesome stuff and give great advice! It's just that I view my rig as a vehicle designed by a committee and...
It's amazing to me how people will spend time and money to make a spacer that you can cut out of junk plastic, a rubber inner tube, Aluminum, or make with washers.
These are great vehicles, but they are not divine objects that require exact and precision repair like the "Dead Sea Scrolls"...
Start with plywood painted with tranny fluid and any hinges that fit. Hold closed with simple sliding bolts or carabiners.
Then purchase what you need over time once you make a simple but functional tailgate.
Just so you know, I just bought a 1990's civilian Hummer H1 for 35K with upgraded A/C, CTIS, 2 inch lift, Hummer Slantback placed aftermarket, CB radio, PA system and overhead console.
It would be California legal, but I live in another Communistic state on the other coast.
So your whole idea...
Lots of people have asked about this, so I will comment...
Remember, every time I operate I'm at risk of COVID-19, and HIV and Hepatitis. Nothing is safe.
It is not that I don't worry about my hands. It's just that I don't live in a bubble.
People go for a drive and get into accidents. People...
I make no apologies for driving my Camo slantback whenever and wherever I want. If our government sells them painted this way to the public, why would I feel "odd"?
Sorry you got a medical issue, but drive your rig proudly.
All the paint codes you will ever need are in the Behr section, should you decide to go with Behr paint.
Search for the Behr paint jobs threads and one has all the codes painstakingly listed
Saw another thread about Jeep mirrors. I liked it and I bought a pair.
The other post talked about adapters to fit the mirrors the the front door hinges Adapters cost over $110!!!!! Yikes!!!
I paid $43 for the pair of mirrors, and I already own the drills and taps and punch and hammer.
I just...
Don't start in the garage. Too cliched. If something happens people will look for years for your note about why you did it.
Seriously, it will stink and it is dangerous.
Best,
T
Try the paint thread in the restoration forum.
Then look up Behr paint jobs and you will find all the paint codes for Home Depot to make the paint for you.
Re-align all 4 wheels, and clean the inner rim of all 4 wheels too. Mud will also do that. [IH8MUD ;)]
I love my Centrimatics, but I also re-aligned all 4 wheels. WOW what a difference.
Sometimes a bargain winds up being a PIA. Why not just buy a unit that is what you need vs. creating a cluster screw of hobbled together parts that aren't meant to be there?
If price is an issue, weld up a Luverne type unit, like several other members did on this forum.
You can also weld up a...
