    My New HMMWV

In New York we have something called a police review where you can get a police officer to sign off on a vehicle with an abnormal vehicle identification number. I wonder if they have something similar in your state. I am curious as to how you were doing 65 miles an hour with a three Speed...

Still having starting issues. Glow plugs not working. Changed everything I can think of PLease Help

So Cam O and I had it all wrong. You have a separate plug for your glow plugs. Don't bother checking pin D. Most boxes activate the glow plugs via a one plug engine harness strategy. On the more standard units, the D pin controls the current for the glow plugs. You need to get rid of that...

    My New HMMWV

Coug's suggestions are for rust removal, and his suggestions are excellent choices. As far as "rust conversion", I did a Google search because I need do the same thing... This is what I found...

Still having starting issues. Glow plugs not working. Changed everything I can think of PLease Help

Like Cam O says... pin D on the engine sided plug on the PCB is the pin that gets hot and sends power to the glow plugs. If it is not working and never powers up to 24 Volts, you have your answer.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Hand creme makes tools slip. I just used a judicious amount of soap and a scrub brush and my hands are baby clean. Besides, if ya' ain't getting dirty you ain't playing hard enough. Gonna use engine degreaser and warm water and my pressure sprayer to clean the under hood area. Also gotta find...

    Fuel pump push rod

Cam, you sly devil... you know as well as I that when you replace that buggar without greasing the rod in place, the rod slips down and when you think you're closing up by tightening the fuel pump into place the blasted rod gets cracked. Awesome design! :/ beehumvee, please read up on how to...

    1991 HMMWV overheating

Gauges on these vehicles can be a crap shoot. You need to open up, use a voltmeter on each wire. Additionally each wire has a metal crimp with a number. You need to go to the electrical forum and print out the wiring number translations. The TM's/Technical Manuals will have diagrams. Finding...

    1991 HMMWV overheating

You need to go through the forum threads and prior forum posts regarding activation of the Cadillac valve And Cadillac valve electronic control. You can put switches onto the Cadillac valve electronic control to automatically run your fan full-time or to turn it off entirely when you go through...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Absolutely!!!! And it is an opportunity to teach kids the importance of knowing more about a motor vehicle than just putting in fuel and using a key. Best, T

Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

I replaced the hoses that were poorly spliced rather than replaced. Now on to more little annoyances... Time to do the V-belts. The alternator tensioning is easy enough, but what is the best way to tension the lower 2 belts? Where is the best place for me to place a lever arm to pull tension on...

    4 man soft top modifications

Coug, just to play Devil's advocate: While normally I would agree, my Aluminum truck has a steel Slantback top held together with steel bolts. They also use steel bolts to connect the frame to the body. I think stainless will be a bit better than the steel bolts used by AMG, although your...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I hate TM’s. Reality is they are essential, but who ever likes homework? Traced out the power steering cooling lines and replaced. The PO cheaped out and spliced a line rather than replace it. The splice blew apart some time ago and I temporarily repaired. Now that weather is warm and with lots...

Gearing up my M998 for Alaska

I’m curious. If the vehicle is 30 years old can it be titled in Alaska, California, or Florida as a classic?

    HMMWV Ground Shunt

Did you bleed the injectors properly? Just spitballing here. Doesn’t make sense that you crank without starting.

    HMMWV Ground Shunt

If your at half tank or less of Diesel then maybe fuel delivery system needs evaluation. If you pressurize the tank and it starts, then you need to evaluate fuel delivery system.

Anyone know a great shop in SoCal for service?

This is your time to shine. It is warm weather time and you can change your fluids and crawl over and under the truck to learn about it. You need to swap fluids. You need to change filters. You need to drive it to feel for shakes and shimmies and grumbles, in order to feel out the lumps and...
