MEP-002A quit generating under full load. Where to start

Nice work Rusty, its looking good. If you decide to sell any of the stuff you removed, let me know. I wouldn't mind having a spare transducer on hand, if yours is still good.

MEP-002A quit generating under full load. Where to start

Rusty, I haven't seen or heard from Craig Tull in at least a year or more. I had an 002 with a bad CVT-1 and he hooked me up with the one he removed from his machine that fried the AC box harness. It was quite a pain to swap out, but it worked good when I was done. If I ever have another one die...

    mep002a injector pump?

Yup, that's the one I used. There is also another document on their website that breaks the pump down with PN's for each piece too. I have it save on another computer at work or you can dig around on their website. I think you have to look under Military and model 50?? kind of hidden but its...

Guess batteries only last 4 years...

Kaiser, I'd be willing to bet a good long stretch ( like over the winter) with the 4 ailing batteries on a desulfator would bring them back to life. It works really well on batteries that are starting to fail, it also works sometimes on ones that have already failed but takes a long time to be...

    mep002a injector pump?

Update... The Ambac order came in Friday and I assembled the pump Sat. ( it was very easy to reassemble and install back in the machine) got it bled out and the machine fired up and makes good power. Got a few little things to fix but all in all it is up and running well! So, for anyone out...

Guess batteries only last 4 years...

I've all all sorts of mixed luck with batteries. I have an Interstate in my F250 that is probably at least 11 years old and it still going strong, even though the truck will sometimes sit 4 months at a time unused, but I've bought other Interstates, put them in a car ( that is seldom driven) and...

    MEP-003A glow plugs

Dang it, I should have looked more closely on here before I bought them!

    MEP-003A glow plugs

I recently (last week) ordered 4 from Rock Auto and I got the right part. $14.66 ea with a 4pc. min buy. If you search for CH182 you will get the wrong plug, a CH-147 for $9 ea. I searched for just 182 with Champion in the manufacturer line and got the right one. If you search for CH-42 you get...

    mep002a injector pump?

Great, thanks LuckyDog. Now I'm glad I chose not to buy the delivery valve spacer (for $30 more) since there's one included in the kit! Although my plan was to go without it based on everyone's replies, but since its in the kit I guess it will be going back in! Hopefully by this weekend it will...

    mep002a injector pump?

Rusty, I called 1-800-628-6894. The plunger guide was still $15 plus shipping. I also bought a kit# KT85166 for $54, not sure exactly what it comes with but it should at least have all the seals and stuff. Because of the holiday I probably won't get the parts until Thursday or Friday.

    mep002a injector pump?

Yup, it looked like a thin layer of dark brown crud stuck to the delivery valve. Last night I pulled the pump and tore it down. The control shaft and plunger were pretty stiff as well as the metering sleeve block... Not to mention the busted Dogbone (plunger guide). So I just made a list of...

    mep002a injector pump?

I'm working on an -003A I just picked up and I'm having the same "no fuel output" issue with the IP. I pulled the delivery valve out last night and cleaned it but I've got 2 questions for the IP Guru's... The Ambac service manual indicates that the delivery valve is an assembled part, but on...

MEP parts from Gulf Coast in Baytown Tx

Seems to me this is not the first thread I've seen about people having issues with the "customer service" or lack there of at this place. I think I'll steer clear of them! Everyone seems to have good luck with William Delk, not so much with Tom....

I hate copper thieves, especially when they have wire cutters and access to an -004a

The sad part is most of these people get away with their actions... BUT luckily every once in a while there's that one extra stupid criminal that gets caught! I remember working at Leviton my first year out of college and one of the maintenance guys there told me a story about a guy who stole a...

    Torch Set Information Needed

Sounds like you guys are lucky to have more flexible rules on filling tanks than we have here in RI! Here you can fill small bottles on an exchange basis (provided the one you exchange has a valid hydro stamp) once you go above either 80 or 120 CF you have to either lease the tank from the...

Which Diesel Generator Would You Recommend or NOT Recommend?????

So we've had some good discussions here as to the size generator you need, personally I see no need to go bigger than 10K. I run 5K units with no problem, but I think the 5K will struggle and possibly fail ( trip the breaker) if you are running a 5 ton A/C even if you do practice good load...

    It says 65hz

Well, the good news is it sounds like your generator is working fine, just you transducer is shot. I'd say that if the kill-a watt says 60, you're at 1800 RPM, not much chance you're over-revving it... Now its up to you to either stay with just a kill-a-watt, get an alternative gage setup ( such...

    Yes, that's it.

    MEP 003A Unstable Voltage

Exactly what everyone else said.... Mine was doing the same thing and I found the 1K pot on the VR to be intermittent. Some times a few turns in either direction will clear it up, otherwise I found a replacement on ebay, just verify the length before you buy. Almost all are .75" long. The one...

    It says 65hz

Sounds to me like your frequency transducer has given up on you. I think the most common failure mode is that it will peg the gage high when it goes bad. If you're lowering your RPM's and the needle stays pegged you can pretty much bet its all done. If you want to rule out everything else, take...
