I can't say for sure if the timing button is causing the hunting/droop problem, but I would definitely suggest correcting the timing button first, then go back and revisit the governor adjustment, if the hunting and excess droop still exists. My feeling is that if you are late on the timing...
If all else fails, ebay usually has tons of timing buttons for sale. Try searching Ambac timing button. Can also try Onan timing button as well as MEP-002 timing button etc. I see a 16/S on there, too bad its $59 when other sizes are like $14! You can probably buy direct from Ambac too, that's...
I've always heard that you can paint them with latex house paint to protect them from UV. I'd also be curious about algae growth if you are storing fuel for an extended period of time in an opaque container outdoors.
Robert, have you already had success running a 3hp motor off an 002 without tripping the breaker on startup? If so, that's awesome! I can't start my 3hp lathe with an 002. Soon I'll try a 2 hp milling machine I recently got, but other than that I had to get an 003 because I have a 10hp VMC I'm...
Cold is definitely a good aide.
actually a friend of mine uses heat followed by spraying with ice water. repeat several times and then he uses hydrogen peroxide and soaks for a while. This is for marine stuff, but can't hurt on a green machine!
Mine are so bad that all the heat in the world...
Cool video! looked like that small lion was attempting to make off with your Gator... Its interesting that you could apply 21K and bog the motor without tripping the breaker. I think trying to pull twice the rated current on an -002 or -003 would probably trip the breaker long before reaching...
Your Frequency transducer is probably shot. (upper left corner of your 4th pic.) an easy way to test it is to detach the 2 AC in wires on the left side of the transducer and attach a line cord in their place. Plug it into utility power and see if it reads 59-60 hz. If you still get nothing then...
I can't imagine why you are having a hard time finding fuses. Looks like Radio Shack, Grainger, MSC and a ton of other places have them. They're all over ebay too, a couple bucks for a 4 pack. Are they plain 1/4" x 1 1/4" glass tube fuses, like a 1960's car only 250V??
You have to remove the control assembly first. If it still won't come apart your metering sleeve might be stuck to the plunger. Try using a brass punch and small hammer to tap on the end of the plunger ( where you removed the delivery valve and holder) while prying the pump apart.
Not to veer too far off topic, the VMC is a 10hp spindle so I assume I would need at least a 30% larger VFD to run it off single phase. Luckily the machine has a sweet Baldor H2 Vector Drive already on it which could be rewired for single phase input, the bad news is the Vector drive only runs...
That's exactly why I picked up this -003. I came into some real nice 3 phase machine shop equipment when they closed the engineering tool room at my work ( lathe, 2 vertical CNC mills, a big VMC and a surface grinder.)
My plan was to sell some or all of it, but my -002's circuit breaker won't...
Once you remove the shaft and the 4 cap screws (with little metal blocks on them) the unit still will probably not separate easily.
You will probably have to use a screwdriver and hammer ( cringe) to pound in there to wedge it apart. Its a tight fit plus any varnish buildup kind of sticks it...
Problem solved!.... The CT tested good so I took a look at the schematic and noticed the wires for the gauge go through the AC reconnect switch. So I exercised the switch a few times, fired it up and voila... 9000W gives me about 72%. Threw another 1200W from a heat gun on the convienance outlet...
Rusty, you need item 46 in the -34 manual correct? The panel mounted in the upper right corner on the back wall of the control cubicle? I know someone who has some MEP parts, I'll check if he has one he's willing to sell.... or trade for a transducer.... ;)
Upon closer inspection it looks like the mice did a little damage to the insulation on a couple of the wires going to the diode bridge, mainly the wire to pos.#6 but the damaged areas are very small and its only the insulation, not the conductor and the exposed areas can not touch anything else...
I recently got my first -003A machine and got it up and running. It runs good and produces a boat load of power, my problem is that the ammeter is reading very low. Probably in the neighborhood of 25% of the actual load.
When I put a 9000W load on it the gauge is reading in the 25% load area.
I...
Yes, the frequency transducer. 2 out of my 4 machines have had transducers that died and I had to switch to digital gauges. I kind of like the original appearance of these machines so having a spare might not be a bad idea...
