I am finally starting to understand this, maybe, please check my thinking:Historic military vehicle: ex-military vehicle which is now in civilian hands, regardless of year of manufacture (does or does not have to be 25 years old?). Historic registration: historic license plate. Historic plate...
It should be ok. The outlet side of the shutter-stat initially has full pressure on it when the shutter-stat closes anyway, which then bleeds off through the small bleed port. Let it rip, it should work perfectly. You're not going to make history by not doing anything. :)
This is really easy to do, and would look most at home using a front axle engagement switch. The shutter-stat has a very small air bleed hole in it so it can relieve air pressure when off to release the fan. But, I like stuff automated and to work like it is supposed to. I want to ask why you...
If you find the alternator is out to lunch, as suspected, I personally don't recommend even trying to fix it. There are pages of these failed alternators here, and they commit suicide if the batteries are low, even though that is the alternators core assignment. You can replace it with a...
The soft fuel lines on these trucks are of limited life, and all past due for replacement if original. From the tank to the engine (to lift pump, anyway), including any filters on the way, this is the suction side. If it has a leak, it will leak air in, not fluid out. Many have found this by...
That's heavily discounted. $125/hr is usual dealership single person labor rate. Even a trailer type twin roll Mustang type dyno likely bills out at more than that. The one he is using is an EPA approved in-floor single 48" roller with > 1% accuracy across the operating spectrum. Our usual...
I would have done new rings also, given his compression readings were all over the map and he found erratic ring tension in the rings he pulled out. He instead went for a NOS turbo for nearly the same amount. Maybe that will make up for the blow by. I would have done the new rings, made sure...
Any reason one can't loosen the injector hold downs a few threads, and then fire up the engine? I can't think of why that would not loosen a stuck injector. This is common on the 8.3's in 5T's, and I have been contemplating doing it this way rather than fabbing up an injector pulling device...
In general, you run it in parallel to the heater core. It can't handle all of the coolant flow of the main hoses at the radiator. If run with the heater core, this may diminish heater core performance. If connected in series with the heater core, it will greatly reduce coolant flow to the...
Correct. Larger tires are the fast path to not achieving what you want. They will put a measurable kink in your fuel economy and available power. HD trannys are SAE orientated as stated above, so you can mix and match as much as you want. You can change flywheel housings or get adapters...
I bought a Red Dot R-9777 cab roof unit. Artisan is correct, in that this does contain the evaporator, condenser, pressure switches, charge ports, fans and controls for both, and the receiver. All that is needed is a compressor (24v clutch or resistor or 24/12 relay) and lines to it. I bought...
Correct. There is already a low pressure canister filter on the return side of the system. Basic use of winch instructions including above are:1. Engage PTO via above method. Trans in D, pull PTO engagement lever back until it "falls in". May need to creep truck forward a foot to help it...
His turbo had excessive play so he bought a NOS one, due to arrive any day now. Once that is on, it will still be a while because he won't drive it when there is any salt on the road. So, I estimate another 1-2 months before he starts it for break-in.
Awesome grab. I'd pay you $1000 for one, but they are worth more than that. They are extensively used in larger marine applications such as many many yachts found around all coasts of Florida, etc.
Buy a used $200 gas powered compressor from the local CraigsList of where you are, plumb it into an emergency side glad hand, that should get you home. Can always sell it once home.
We got the long block together including slugs, heads, and oil pan. I think he has since added on the manifolds, because now he says his turbo compressor impeller is rubbing the housing. I'm trying to talk him into a C model if he is not rebuilding his D. This thing is costing him $ every...
