Even 12.0 volt is about 80% discharged. Fully charged and healthy battery should show about 12.8v open circuit voltage. If you measure voltage at the starter during cranking, it should not drop below 20.0v otherwise the battery/cable/connection system is weak. I have new gear reduction...
We'll, you did better than Hot Dog here. His rebuild with new parts didn't even last a summer, until it was dropping terds out the draft tube. Maybe by his re-use of parts this time, it will go further/longer.
You can tell I just went to his garage and passed out in the corner last night.
*burp*. Should have taken pictures and looked at them. Ha! We missed that, focused on ring count. Yes, one piston was different when initially shipped, but they since shipped a match. The above was not observed, I believe. Long block is together, we'll see what he wants to do. Thanks for...
Pistons are all the same. That is a sleeve sticking up out of the block. Not soft jaws in the vice. I had nothing to do with it, was like that when I showed up.
Not ridiculous. 2 stroke on the upstroke pulls intake charge into crankcase. This is the flywheel momentum pushing the piston up on compression. There is a power stroke of every down cycle. In a properly running 2 stroke engine, at what point does the rod has to physically pull the piston...
Any genuine Delco Remy alternator will have their name cast into the rear housing. A Chinese one will not have this, it will simply have no name cast into the back side of the rear housing.
Estimated cost for a genuine new Delco Remy 24v J-180 short alternator from a distributor would be in...
There is a lot of great knowledge and people here, so I am happy to contribute at least something. The alternator I sell is pricy but top notch. For lower cost, I'd recommend somebody to buy a used but genuine 24V Delco Remy off eBay. Put a new regulator in it, hit the commutator slip rings...
Way easier than that. Pull the center pin and because the arms lock closed over-center, they spring upon release and pop right off, so by pulling the center pin, the entire cap comes off and is dangling in your hand by the center pin. This is how your hands stay clean. You don't have to touch...
Understood. Bumpers were in the dumpster 10 minutes after I got the truck home. Hated the way they looked, much better now. I'll remember to check pintle clearance, thanks for the notice.
Very useful info, thank you. That is like 1000 people writing in to say they have done it and nothing broke. I am seeking the one single case where it did break under little to no load, or even when shifting into R, but I can't find one. At this point, I don't think I'll be too scared to try...
Thanks for the accolades, your install looks good. The unit you have from me is rated at 24V (28v) and 130A with 200F under-hood cooling air temps. It actually spit out 177 amps on my tester before I shipped it out to you. I test everything before I ship out. It has twin internal fans...
