Joe when you say "common," I take it to mean that the parts are common to all A2 trucks...not that they are common! The air intake parts, for example, are almost non-existence. Unless someone has a parts truck, you can't find this stuff. Joe, I am glad to hear that the frame is straight...
It has been on eBay multiple times previously. He will not get his reserve price...at least that is my opinion. The only way he is going to get his price is if he actively markets the truck to a business that has priced out a new truck. It is a heck of a truck, but the same truck is bringing...
My point was this...most guys on this list know about GL and most are adventurous enough to give them a whirl when looking for a deuce. Almost all deuces (99.2%) go for less than $3500 and they come with the paperwork to get a title. The thing your truck has going for it is that guys can come...
Nice looking truck! No offense intended...but that price is high for a truck WITHOUT A TITLE. Sit back and watch how quickly it moves without a title at that price. You either need to get a title or drop the price. Just trying to be helpful...
If you keep it stock, keep the RPM at 2000 and the motor will last you forever. 2000 RPM translates to about 50-52 MPH. That's the speed I drive my M809 series trucks with 1100s. The 1400s allow you to drive a bit faster as others have already stated. Speaking of 1400s, I don't know what the...
I believe Sam Winer in OH has 1400 X 20 tire chains. I have no idea about the other information. Perhaps, it would be worthwhile to speak with a California Highway Patrol commercial vehicle enforcement officer.
Joseph, good point about the different speeds. I've seen many trucks that specified different speeds on the data plate. I've even seen these discrepancies on M809 series dataplates. Some say MAX SPEED 50 MPH, others 52 MPH and yet others 54 MPH.
With regard to the OD tranny vs. the direct...
The later style Ross power steering is much more desirable. It is easily noted by the small steering wheel. There are other obvious signs under the front wheel well, but they are harder to describe. The Ross power steering came in the M809 series trucks and was retrofitted into older M39...
The only thing that would keep me from buying a complete non-running HMMWV for $12K (aside from the chassis rust issue mentioend above and assuming I wanted one and had the money) would be if it was stolen. Short of that, $12K for a complete HMMWV, assuming it is fairly clean, is cheap. I paid...
You are asking us to compare a cargo truck to a tractor. So, one difference is the M54 is a cargo and the M818 is a tractor. I assume you meant M39 series vs. the M809 series. The M54 (really the M39 series) could also come with an overdrive tranny, although it better mates with an direct...
GIMP, I am not sure off-hand as I don't have them to measure. I would assume, but am not sure, that they are about 3" to 4" in length. Don't hold me to this estimate. Yeah, I'd like to take a look at the J bolts that you have.
Hi,
I am looking for the "J" bolts used to attach the front of the hard top to the top of the M939 series windshield frame (A pillar). Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've already tried places like Memphis Equipment.
