HEMMTs are in the same MV collector class as armored vehicles......very expensive to own, operate, maintain and obtain.
Very few of them have gotten out the door in one piece.....most of the ones out there were built from salvage trucks unless they were prototype vehicles that escaped the...
This has been done successfully on SS I believe......I also saw a M818 at the 2009 MVPA convention that had been repowered with either a Big Cam 350 or a 400 (memory fades). It is the same block but there has to be a few modifications made to make everything fit. You also have to put a bump in...
This is your first EUC....right?
Good luck with that "few days" thing.
Congrats on putting on your big boy panties and doing it yourself.[thumbzup][thumbzup]
Welcome to the "Brotherhood of the Similarly Afflicted".:cookoo:
The expando vans used 900x20's and there have been some conversions to lowboys using the frame (there is one in my future).
My intent is to use bolster trailer axles so I can use the low profile 12 ply tires that come on the bolster. This will drop the deck height by almost a foot.
I'll be on the radio....since I am registered for the Fall Quarter I am still a student and can continue to co-host the show....me and Elmo will see ya tomorrow night.
I have one of the manual hydrolic ones that I got at a cheapo tool sale......it works well on small diameter pipe....I haven't tried it on the big stuff.
I am now out of school until the end of Summer.
If you need something picked up at Redstone or Anniston Army Depot I can probably do it.
Due to the high fuel prices I can't do previews unless I am going there to pick up something.
If someone wants to cover fuel and lunch I can do a special...
Writing is one of my few talents that I actually made some decent money on.
Folks who have attended the GA Rally may have heard some of the tales of my mis-spent youth.
I'm glad that some of you enjoy it.
I'm working on a wood fired one using an old gas water heater. (see pics)
Having been singed several times by the old immersion heaters in my young enlisted Army days I have to give you the "Oversized Testicles" award for using it.
Post pics if you have them.
In 1992 I was stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. I got a gig as a journalist with the post Public Affairs Office when my transportation unit was deactivated.
Fort McMuffin was closed later under BRAC.
The country music group “Alabama” had just released a song that mentioned Little River...
Put a wet kit on the M915 and buy a civy dump trailer .....if you buy another truck you will have the added expense of tags and insurance.
There is the comfort factor of the M915 too......M817's are loud, slow and frigging hot in the summer.
I agree with jcappeljr.....the M817 doesn't haul a...
I may be up there next week.....it may take a while for your EUC to clear.
I do recoveries from Redstone and can pick up two trailers at once.
PM me the info and if MD doesn't make it up there I'll scope it out for you.
Ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.
Prices are always higher on the left coast...for all MV's....there are less of them out there.
The southeast seems to be the target rich environment for buying MV's since there are a lot more military bases per geographical area.
The worst...
I watch every auction every week.....prices are going up across the board.....a junker deuce sold for over 1300.00 at Redstone today.
As the supply dwindles the price goes up.
A few weeks ago a M1008 sold for more than a M916.....go figure.:cookoo:
That trailer actually made it to the 2009 GA Rally behind my M109 (since sold).....it has not improved with age.
Since it has issues with the wiring and brakes I may take the axles out and put them under the trailer that the expando van body came off of.....I plan to make a lowboy trailer out...
