    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

Thanks! At the place I went to in Cache county UT, it's supposed to be $30 for a dismount and remount. Though, obviously, to blast and powder coat these wheels I had to do it in two separate visits (a visit for dismount, and a later one to remount). Doing it like this the place tried to charge...

    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

Sent a message a couple weeks ago to ZiggyO, didn't get a response. So I carried on with my Super Lugs and tubes from Gimpy (excellent tubes!) I got them mounted this weekend, they do look pretty good. Though, once inflated, one of the Super Lugs I got from Goldneagle has 4 or 5 slashes in the...

dmetalmiki, I think this response from DinoAndrea right before your post was meant for Ron (73m819).

    Can't find stamped VIN

Oh, glad you found it! I apologize in forgetting to take a picture.

    Can't find stamped VIN

I found mine on my 1972 AM General M35A2 almost directly above the axle, on the left side just like you mentioned. Maybe the older gassers are different?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I'm sure Boyce Equipment in Ogden, UT has them or can get them. You can also try PlanBSupply (also in UT) or the IdahoMotorPool in Fruitland, ID (IdahoMotorPool has fiberglass ones for $950, no shipping). Though hard tops are already pricy, and from those folks will run even more. IMO, out west...

    Valence's M66 Gun Ring

So I broke down and paid the $150 for the barrel spring clamp from BMGParts.com since apparently they are very uncommon and I did not find them anywhere else. That was well over double what I was hoping to spend for one, but at least this one is complete and in excellent shape! The pictures I...

    Stuck lug nuts

Castle Bravo sent me an eBay link and it's on order! 6 years of deuce ownership and I'm still buying needed tools. Thanks for the tips guys [thumbzup]

Never heard of this. Will need to buy one for my deuce's tool box...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Personally, even if the original oil shocks are "good" (ie: not leaking), I'd advocate for replacing them. It's old technology and they will lose over 30% of their shock absorption because the oil "foams" during use. Modern shocks are much better, and a drop-in replacements are readily...

One happy bull mastiff in a 5 ton

My dear mother made a dog hammock for my deuce for my dog. Also seen are the "Mutt muffs" hearing protection I force my dog to wear. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?136662-Passenger-Hammock-For-Small-Critter-Friends

    New shop van owner

No problem! Nothing wrong with being new. Our hobby wouldn't survive without new interest! Well, here's some useful vendors I recommend. You can price match and take shipping into consideration (all this information is out there and easily found, but I thought I'd put it here to give you a...

    New shop van owner

Hello and welcome from northern Utah! Everyone loves shop vans ;) My gut feeling would be it's unlikely that you'll need new brake shoes (but one never knows on old beasts). In my opinion, here's a list of things to do/replace/rebuild/upgrade etc to ensure you have quality brakes, since the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yesterday I finished the axle service (repack bearings, replace the oil seal, and reseal exterior hub cover) on my M105A2 trailer. It was hot, greasy, dirty, and sweaty. These pictures are actually from the passenger side that I did a couple weeks ago, but, same thing (obviously) for the...

Looking at m35a2s, Best tire and wheel combo?

According to Goodyear's spec, the G177 11.00-20 tires are 43.7" tall. The Michelin XL 11.00-20 are 43.1" tall. FYI for UT folks: Fastenal cannot ship East -> West

Now the ranting side of me gets a bit irritated at the last part. As the "Fastenal Third Party Logistics Coordinator" that sounds exactly like that should be her JOB to "get into that" (routing via 3rd party carriers) as she put it - but what do I know.

FYI for UT folks: Fastenal cannot ship East -> West

I called the Salt Lake regional Fastenal lady, Sierra, again for even further clarification. Sierra said all of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada and parts of Colorado are all serviced by the Salt Lake regional hub. She said it is possible that the Fastenal folks in other locations are...

FYI for UT folks: Fastenal cannot ship East -> West

Just a heads up for, at least, Utah folks looking to use Fastenal to receive shipped pallets from the east to the west: Fastenal does not have room. After submitting the online request: https://www.fastenal.com/en/22/third-party-logistics-%283pl%29 I received an email from Sierra McNamee in the...

    Valence's 1960 Pioneer Tool Trailer

Those would look so cool on a trailer pulled by a deuce running the Michelin 395 XZLs!
