yep , sure do .. were there any 17" or 18" tires/cbt rims avail for WC's.. I'm not a WC expert, by far .. I have only seen two in my lifetime up close, and neither had the tires/rims seen in dad's pic
All are of the same jeep .. Note rivets and other features, doesn't fit so well around the lower front door openings .. Perhaps homemade? What do you think?
Below: Apparently dad needs to check spare tire lugnuts .. Pranksters at the shop! Saar kaserne, Munich 1947
below: Murch and...
My father with a dodge in 1947.. Solln area of Munich, Bavaria.. The patch is "ETO-Advanced Base.." At this point of his 3 years there, he was with "HQ & Supply Troop" and no longer wore a 2nd Constabulary Bde patch.
Note the high-top canvas , he was hauling food packages for an orphanage...
my father took these
Archer, Ichkoff, and unknown .. All had served under the 3rd army during the push into Germany... They were retained for occupation duty

More like truly gritty !! It's rarely clean... It's just a good workhorse ...
I have to admit I have a soft spot for clean M38A1's ... My A1 is in sad shape, half torn apart for decades now.. And my M38"A5" sits in a shed ignored, while the tires slowly fall apart :(
Dad mentioned there were sniper and "potshot" incidents for at least two years after the surrender , although far and few between.. But also, the smarter guys surely didn't want to go anywhere by themselves due to the things on your aforementioned list, even by the late-40's ..
BTW, I found his...
"Public Relations Patrol," southern outskirts of Munich , Solln..
He and another fella were accompanying a Willys MB crew distributing Ritz crackers .. (see my Willys MB post in this forum) .. His jeep has a white cloth concealing many boxes of crackers and whatnot, like the other jeep...
My father took this of a couple of his pals in spring 1947.. All were former Cav troopers under the 4th Armor prior to war's end.. They were detained to form the Constabulary occupation force while most everyone else went home.. In early 1947 they were still running in pairs (or more) with...
2nd Constabulary Brigade in Bavaria in 1947 ..
My father worked out of the DTO (distict transport office) outside Munchen at the former Wehrmacht Saar Kaserne (later, Jensen barracks) , as well as at the RTO (regional transport office) established at Garmisch near the southern "Frontier" area...
one of my dad's ETO pics.. They were heading out somewhere , from Garmisch ...
Below pic is noted as the site of an encounter the 4th Armor Div had the year prior.. I have to wonder what is buried under all those dirt piles along the road.. (horses? wagons?).. Anything steel would've...
You can do either as long as your retainer is at least as strong as the force that caused it to pop off.. Seen some vintage commercial dogbones having a 3/8"x2" flatstock plate with two 3/8" (maybe 1/2") bolts holding it in place .. I have run an M51 for many years with dogbone retainer plates...
I suppose my youngest son would quote you , I would hook up the old jeep to the pop-up camper and take him and his mother (wife #2) to all kinds of remote abandoned mills, mines, quarries, etc.. High on the list were places with old machinery or equipment/trucks etc.. The boy loved the...
late-1945 or 46 , i think this ceremony pictured is taken at what became Jensen at the Saar-Kaserne , I matched it to some 1950's photos on the constab site.... I have been able to identify his other pics, which are at the installation at Garmisch and around that area . . I have some other...
I picked up the XM818 and a sister '71 M818 at Ft Indiantown Gap, PA in 2009 , together on one load.. Left late one evening and didn't get back until two mornings later .. The truck is as OEM as the day it was released from the military and has needed nothing other than normal maintenance ...
