    M54a1 Mack

others here are correct, the PTO is an industry-standard SAE.. Your tranny is a basic spicer design with one minor variation (air shift poppets).. The common-most spicers of your design (without poppets) were put in civilian trucks of the 1950's to early-80's, often driving an eaton 2-speed...

    M54a1 Mack

the 673's don't lope (except a little in very cold weather at first startup) .. They run smooth and powerful (and make beautiful music).. the 1st place to inspect is your entire fuel system, including age of fuel .. Will Wagner is correct, a laser thermo will help determine which cylinder(s)...

    Hydraulic problems on M817 Dump

ON-road, i have carried/dumped 12-14T of material using about 1/3rd throttle to dump, with no issues other than we have to keep an eye on the sheet welds and condition of the metal (if any rot) along the bedsheet above the hinges... The beds themselves are the weak point on these 6x6 trucks, a...

yep... after a complete change of clothes and a complimentary sink bath with baking soda for the glasses, outside i went with a couple boxes of baking soda and a garden hose for the tractor's bath .. The battery top was blown clean off.. Then the cussing started, 6 volt heavy-duty batts were...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - March VOTE HERE!

Had one blow under a pickup hood "luckily".. The next time one blew was on an old tractor when I pulled the starting rod while standing beside it as I had done a thousand times before... The battery was belly-high thus I wore liquid head to toe, luckily I had glasses on... Was 40 feet from my...

I can understand the bilge pump switch being needed during and after fording , but do you use the "anchor" button in case of brake failure ? Just curious :p

ummm,, that stenciling comes a little too late .. It's already on your toes when you get to read it :ROFLMAO: ... and yes, i have been 'nicked" just a whisker a time or two when pulling them out alone , even with an imminent reminder in my head :p And a reminder on the topside like yours...

    M886 Cab Interior

the first (and last) time i ever saw the interior of an M886 was in 1983 or 84 , volunteer mock casualty during a late-night field exercise for the armored division's MASH ... I was loaded onto the top rack.. The truck rocked and rolled and bobbed blackout through the woods for a good 3/4-hour...

    Deuce Wiring

Since the wiring systems on all the "M-series" military trucks are of the same numbering system and AWG size, (CUCV-types aside), I had a situation before the days of multi-volt LED's when I first paired an M818 with a civilian 48ft trailer loaded with numerous 12V lights.. (easily modified to...

WC-something and roadside "burial?" piles , Bavaria, early 1946

It's working for me... You click on the date circles , in my case I am looking at 1940-1948 period and got RAF and USAAF aerial photos. Did you select "orthophoto" ? I am using the site in German , i did not look for a different language selection .. Also, while in photo mode, if you zoom in...

    Hi-lo range

Even back in the army days, sometimes the shifter linkage wasn't adjusted correctly after a changeout ... I had situations where the lever had to slap the seat frame hard to get it into Hi range, other times the seat frame wouldn't let the lever travel far enough, and other times when tight to...

looked like dirt to me, you must have better eyes ! I am stubborn and have refused bi-focals and a magnifying glass for years now :D thanks for the link ! will check it out .. the age-progression will be cool .. I know enough of the language to be able to negotiate the website (and get my...

Replacing ignition system with new system.

I concur 100% with NDT, and you should stay with the 4-prong resistor and try the new kit as long as the resistor tests good.. I have had one side of them go bad, but never both sides at once.. Each side of the 4-prong resistor has a different resistance value, IIRC, thus important to respect...
