Socket modification to improve reliability of gage light.
A modification to the Dorman 85805 socket to improve connection with the CEC 1820 bulb.
Upon disassembly of one of the light sockets, I discovered that the bayonet twist lock grooves are not on an even plane. One is higher than the...
Thanks on the great find, I thought so too!! This place gets in some real heavy duty stuff with wheels(like wheels that take multiple tonnage). I just happened upon these on a pallet along with some other junk and couldn't pass the up for a nickel a pound.
These will work great as my shop floor...
Ok, I said my piece. I'm sure the hive will be along to warn you on the waste oil issue.
BTW, how is your solar back feed system not reducing or eliminating your power bill? A friend just had a 48 panel system installed and he's in the northeast and already making money on it.
Wheels (casters) for my MEP-803a
Took a ride to a local scrap yard this morning and found these two gems!
Welded frames with industrial casters. All for the wallet breaking price of $2.50 for both pieces. I couldn't buy the welding rods to fabricate these two pieces, let alone the steel...
See post #4.
You cannot generate power from a fuel burning generator cheaper than you can buy it from the grid.
Fuel, set up costs for various devices, maintenance, etc. Its false economy no matter how you slice it.
Fuel ranges from $2.40 to $2.89 per gallon. At 1 gallon per...
It would be probably be cheaper to go with an MEP-803a from the start and build a load bank as a ballast load that could be added or subtracted to the total load giving him the capability of having the higher KWs at hand if needed.
A load bank can be built for +- a hundred dollars and can also...
How many lights?
What kind of lights, incandescent or LED?
I cannot even imagine any light bar drawing 70 amps DC. I used to install light bars on cruisers and fire trucks and the largest relay I ever used was a 30 amp (black cube type) automotive relay to provide power to them,,, this was...
CRC is fine for the liquid cleaning portion of the process, it's non residual and doesn't attack plastics, components or circuit boards. Regular 90% isopropyl alcohol is also a good start in most instances. Then there are combination type cleaning and lubricant sprays that will also work well...
IXNAY on the Emery board, much too coarse! A clean dollar bill would be a much better choice than an emery board.
There are much better products to use to burnish/clean relay and switch contacts.
Again, great job! and yes it is very rewarding to learn about and get good results trouble...
Absolutely. Anti seize is a must on this type of stuff.
I keep four containers of it around so that I am never without it. There's one in my tractor toolbox, one on the shelf and 1 each in my large tool box and portable box.
For lack of a dab of anti seize on the threads by a previous...
OUTSTANDING!!!!
Thanks for the update and congrats on resolving your problem!
What was the surface condition of the contacts that you viewed, were there any flash/burn marks or was it just improper orientation of the knob gear?
Good work.
I'd try switch disassembly, what do you have to lose? If nothing else it will give you an idea of its construction and you might be able to clean up and burnish the offending contact inside.
I'd do it on a clean white towel and lay the parts out as you take it apart. Maybe even have a video...
I just went through this same situation. Check your PMs
Both my S6 and S8 were gritty and M1 not reading. Cleaning the switches solved the problem with mine.
