M997A2 is now in my fleet

I was not thinking that Meltons were bad. More along the lines of something happened to the original engine, to be replaced, and the replacement engine is now also missing parts. Btw, congratulations on getting an ambulance. I have been looking at them as well, just no room for one right now.

M997A2 is now in my fleet

Have you tried turning over the engine with a breaker bar and socket on the crankshaft nut? I do that on any "unknown" equipment I get. The fact that it shows low milage, but has a Melton rebuilt engine make me wonder what happened?

Advice for re-seal of differential output shafts

Be careful when driving in the new seal. I wound up knocking the seal backing spring off the seal. I must have tapped it too hard. I just saw the spring hanging on the output shaft. Talk about a pain, trying to get that spring back around the back of the seal, while the seal is installed. I...

HMMWV h1 6.5 non turbo crank wont start

The coolant leak may have done something to your glow plug circuit. Check if you are getting power to the plugs when you turn on the power. Are you sure the click you hear is the fuel soenoid, and not the cold advance coil? Check them with a meter, or by applying external power.

HMMWV h1 6.5 non turbo crank wont start

Did it ever run before? Is it diesel coming from the injectors, or something else?

a rather weird question..the case of the missing 16mm socket

Go to Snap on or any other expensive tool shop, and buy the most expensive 16mm socket you can find. With in 5 minutes, the lost socket will appear.

A couple of electrical questions (taking power off the starter).

I used heater hose to protect my cables. 1 hose per cable. Tough, and made to hold up to anything under the hood.

    Help Identifying Accessory - 01 M1097

It's an Eberspacher 5kw arctic diesel fired engine heater (D5WS). The stainless hose is the exhaust. You should have two water connections, an electric, and diesel connection (pump) as well. Usually these are mounted low, to keep them from getting air locked. Search for "d5w s engine heater".

Yanmar L100 need some help with starting

The fact that it will kick back and blow smoke from the intake make me think it's a timing problem. Does this engine look like it has been pulled apart before, and reassembled wrong? (Camshaft gear misalignment). Verify your TDC, and look at the valve timing. That will quickly show you any...

    Helmet top install

I just installed one. It's relatively easy. Just make sure everything is aligned before you drill any mounting holes. (More manuals are available on their website).

    MEP-831A engine repair

Also check the crankshaft, crank bearings, and anything else that could have stretched or bent. I recall a time from my childhood, when my friends and I were trying to blow up an old lanwmower engine. We probably had the thing going at over 10K rpm, when we decided to stick a garden hose into...

    MEP-831A CB indicator works... backwards?

One guess - Measure the voltage on both sides of the LED to a known good ground and see if you are getting 24 volts to both sides of the LED when it's off. I suspect you are somehow applying power to one side of the led, which is leaking to ground (through something like the contactor coil) on...

Saw This on a Diesel Heater Forum

Look at this website for all kinds of Diesel Air / Water heater experiments and tests. I am currently experimenting with installing one of the Chinese Diesel/Air heaters in my Helmet Top.

Proper Way to Clean 6.2 Engine (CUCV M1009)???

I have found that "Oil Flow" from Titan Labs (Amazon) works great on really gunked up hard grease deposits. There are different versions of Oil Flow, depending on your need. This will dissolve just about anything including most adhesives and plastics.

    Hmmwv head question

Just curious, how did the engine break? Any idea how many hours or miles/Km were on the engine?

    White smoke startup 6.5

This seems too short. Try double or triple cycling the plugs before starting to see if that helps. (After the light goes out, turn the switch off, then back on, for another glow cycle).

    CTIS DASH PICS

Not made up. Happened to a friends H1. Went out one cold morning, and had all four tires flat and off the rim. Somehow I got volunteered to help put the tires back on. Had to jack up each tire and pop it back on with ether and a real compressor. The ether will pop the tire back on the rim, but...

    CTIS DASH PICS

If you do decide to install a CTIS, search for "air suspension manifold" or "air ride manifold" those solenoid blocks would make a handy valve setup (don't know if they come in 24 volts, but you can always add a resistor.
