    Dogbones

Miss wrote that.. When I take the u-bolt off the spring pack does that top lifting shackle just come off?

    Dogbones

I’m don’t think it’s going to be too bad. Even the cotter pins slid out pretty easy. It’s weird…some parts of this truck have quite a bit of rust and other parts don’t have any. The damn pins holding the drop sides for the bed were horrible. Took me a week and possibly some hearing loss...

    Dogbones

If I take the u-bolts off of my spring pack can I take this top part off to access the bolts behind it? Seems like it would give me a lot better access to knock the hell out of them to free them up.

M923A1 wont go above 20 MPH

It’s probably only going 20 because the brakes are locked up. I had the drivers side front rear lock up on mine due to a bad diagram and it felt like I was in low gear. it was easy to figure out because I couldn’t even touch the drum because it was so hot after less than a half mile. I had...

    Changing tires from 9.00-20 39.5" to 12R 20 44" singles

Where’s the pictures of the whole truck?? Don’t leave us hanging!

    Stuck brake hose fittings

Oreilly’s sells some stuff called Free All in a chrome can with blue letters. It’s worked miracles on my truck. Spray and let it sit for a while. Works better than anything I’ve ever used on freeing up rusted parts.

    Rear Brake Lock up

For it to be all four I’d guess it’s your air pack. It could probably use a good cleaning and rebuild.

Just wanna be sure as I'm seriously close to going super single...

If you’re keeping the original rims and want something that will last quite a while you might want to look into some 11x20 g177s. I believe CSM army tires carries them or possibly Eastern.

Just wanna be sure as I'm seriously close to going super single...

The purpose of flipping the hubs is so when you put singles on the rear the tires track with the front. Otherwise the rear tires will run narrower than the front. You take the hub and flip it the opposite direction and knock the studs out and install them the opposite direction.

All the Michelin XL tires are very old at this point and probably won’t last very long. I’d go with Michelin XZL or Goodyear MVT.

M809 M54 M35 Cab Roll Cage, Roll Bar

My old deuce had a roll cage inside when I bought it that was made of 3 or 4 inch pipe which you can barely see in this picture. I was so busy working on other things on the truck that I really didn’t notice how good of an idea it was. Might have to call the guy who bought it and get a better...

    Brake problems

Dot 5 can turn yellow with age. Did you bleed up by the air pack before going to the wheel?

    M35a3 screeching noise

You should probably post this in the Deuce section for a faster reply…

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I had some safety bars put on my two new dog bones today. Only four more to go and the work putting them on now. I’m doing this project a little at a time and figured I’d get the uppers done first and do two at a time as time and money allow.

    Air Dryer

Does anyone know if the AD-9 air dryer is a direct replacement for the stock air dryer or will I need to replumb some things to make it work?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I’m getting ready to do this job myself and am curious why your taking the u-bolts off?

It’s not going to hurt anything but your wallet.

Bertha is apparently jealous of the attention I'm giving the M37.(Torque bar separation)

Last time I looked everyone is out of stock on the bushings with the safety bar. Does anyone know if anybody has them in stock? My common sense side says the original ones lasted 40 years but my OCD self wants the safety bar just cause...

(Solved) M923A2 Right rear brakes grabbing

One aspect of this whole thing you guys might not be considering is if the diaphrames are bad and leaking then the air pressure goes down and the spring brakes engage and drag. Diaphrams are fairly inexpensive and the Q2 is less than $100 also. Both can be done in half a day and probably...
