I second the motion from excellent previous experience! Quite the ability to get green iron moved without all the issues you run into with regular trucking companies.
The diesel fired unit is much safer than the gasoline fired one. The gasoline unit requires filling , preheating out doors away from flammable fumes, two soldiers have to carry it back & place it in the device being used, i.e. a stove unit or a boiling rack. Adjusting the heat is a pain too as...
M-1082 is finally home in Florida @ my house after pulling her from Jame's place in Newberry. The 30 mile trip home was a breeze except for a group of 40+ bicycles that took over the entire lane of traffic running @ a fast speed of 20 mph. The road was a two lane narrow road with very few...
The government issued identification number for that truck. Has nothing to do with the VIN, just for the government to keep track of the truck! Think of it as a permanent tag number for that truck that stays with the truck till removed from the military.
I got an email from GP Thursday about needing a copy of my drivers license if I wanted just a title on the truck I got back in September. If tags & other registration are necessary, it would be more money thru them before the documents are completed & delivered as they are a Florida dealer now...
I am suggesting that my M1081 stock truck with stock gears & all won't tow anything over 60 mph max. Now if we arrange an airdrop with a defective parachute trio, will make it over 80 mph before it all goes splat. Guys with hi speed gears can tow faster if they desire, but I am happy @ the...
I am going to drag my M1082 home tomorrow for the last leg of a recovery from Ft Bragg that started its journey back in March of this year. Thanks Wes for towing her to Newberry Florida & Sandcobra for storing her for so many, many months. Max speed, probably 45-50 mph as the Deuce tows, just as...
Fuel money sent after payday finally rolled around, sorry it took a week, but now I am having to pay hospital bills & didn't get FMLA/short term disability payments yet.
I charge my trucks by this method thru the slave port & have no problems with either the LMTV or the Deuces. Love the charger by the way, it is by far the best charger I own.
Replacing the MOSFET should be a straight forward process because of its physical size. Making sure that nothing before it let out the magic smoke may be a problem. Keep us posted on your progress & how it all shakes out. Good luck with your project!
Wes, he won't accept it or any other payments or gifts; I have tried before. Let me try one more time. Thanks again for bringing the 1082 to Florida, I know Sandcobra's wife really was happy to see it go. Now, onward for more fun or back to work tomorrow!
Wes made it in with a sliver of sunshine left, unloaded the M1082, reloaded the HMMWV and is headed to a warm place for the night & supper. The Florida crew is done on this end with the recovery for Rodney, next up is the trip home to Cherry Point & a new happy owner of a HMMWV right before...
Wes arrived with a sliver of sunshine left, unloaded the M-1082, reloaded the HMMWV onto his trailer & is headed to a warm place & supper for the night. You have to admire a man who can do all of what he does with ex military equipment on a regular basis over the road. I forgot to mention that...
I'll wager that your wife is happy that you no longer have a tailgater following your truck around the block, or sitting in the yard. I still owe you a case of cold adult beverage of your choice & my thanks for watching over that beast till you got to watch it being trailered away finally into...
A little planning ahead of time makes the rest of the deal work out well. You did well on this one & made another SS member a Merry Christmas instead of a whoa is me, how do I get this truck home. Great picture!
Welcome from Gainesville. Prices on Deuces are what the market will bear & right now, the demand is not all that high. Trying to get one off a GP auction is like pulling teeth from a chicken. Follow some of the ideas from this thread & you will wind up with one next year maybe.
