I know the cans aren't illegal yet in all states (even when used for their intended purpose), but yes I have seen some cans that have "for water only" or some such language.
I'm not sure about all the new "NATO style" cans but I've read reviews on the ones sold by cheaper than dirt and they aren't very positive. Most complain of the interior "paint" flaking off into the fuel and many mentioned they arrived with rust inside (new cans). The real NATO cans have a nice...
I also learned that neither airpack (longer old style, nor the shorter new style) have residual check valves in them.... although you can get kits for them that install on/in the end of the airpack which would be a good spot to put them as SP5 mentioned.
A member has one for me that I will model up in 3D CAD and make drawings available to all. I'll also send the bracket to Kyle @ Blackrock to see if he can duplicate affordably. The member hasnt been able to get it completely removed from the truck yet however. If anyone else has one available...
A good high amp reverse light switch "ball switch" is the COLE HERSEE 9242. Its rated for 20amps at 24v. Some versions of these come with wires connected and waterproofed connections such as part # 9242-04-BX. You can find the 9242 on ebay and Oreilly autoparts.
I saw member unclemikey made a cool brush guard type thing that mounted to the front above the winch I think. It had a spot for lights, a Hi-lift jack, and shovel. It would be a good type of project for your waterjet and a welder.
I like the fold away locking steps idea too!
You can get the original type fittings from Mcmaster.com they are on page 178 + 179 of their online catalog under "HIGH PRESSURE QUICK ASSEMBLY COMPRESSION FITTINGS"

I've seen people talk about this before on here somewhere. I think its a fine idea if you just stick with the simple solenoid type valve, you might run into trouble with the 3 or 4 way type valves. I use industrial 24vdc stuff all over on my truck as well. True they wont be DOT rated, but...
you can pull power (+24v) from wire #27 under the dash... same wire that powers the gauges and stuff. It will only be energized when your main power switch/lever on the dash is on.
Obviously you should only go this route for a small add on accessory and still fuse it and stick with 14 gauge...
I dont know with 100% certainty, but the bolt pattern is the same and the offset is nearly the same as well.... So I'm sure the 5 ton combat rims would fit a FMTV and not cause any type of rubbing issues or anything else.
This is interesting. I assumed the differential's spider gear had a shoulder or something to prevent the drive shaft from going in too far. I have a selectro lockout on my front most rear axle (drivers side) with a ouverson double splined shaft. I was always a little curious what holds the...
Its been a while since I've posted on these adapters. In total I've probably made only about 50 of them. Since they are quite a bit of work to make, package, and ship, I have decided I probably won't be making anymore of them after this next run. Below are a couple pictures I've gotten from...
Snorkel, light bar, and MRAPs... I like it! What size tires are those? Did you do much different on the third one that you wish you would have on the first 2?
Yeah, you probably just found your problem.
If I understand correctly:
-Brakes work OKAY if you gradually step on the pedal
-truck pulls to the right if you quickly apply the brake pedal
-Front passenger side banjo fitting was recently replaced and now has a larger fluid passage than the drivers...
I forgot to mention that the shims have a bevel in the axle pocket area on one side. It is there because on the passenger side it needs clearance for the differential banjo (I think that's what people call it). Since the passenger side shim basically touches the banjo area, you may have to do a...
There is an alignment pin in the axle housing and one on the bottom of the leaf spring pack. So they keep everything lined up with the perch and prevents things from shifting.
