IIRC you do not need to dump the tires down to emergency pressure when using the run-flat button. You can hit run-flat and Hwy just the same, and it should keep the CTIS from timing out as quickly.
Stellaevil is the subject matter expert on this and could correct me if I’m wrong.
Will, do you remember? I thought I remember reading about problems with some of the water pumps on the C motors having plastic impeller that break up?
I had a lot of crap in my cooling system, work my truck pretty hard in some fairly high temps, and hardly ever have my fan come on. Not sure...
You may have a bad hub seal allowing a little gear oil into the CTIS. That could likely swell the diaphragm in the wheel valve as well as the QR valve flap and cause problems.
I should have some used wheel valves around, maybe even a new one or two. Let me know if you need them to try.
I think...
Do you have a tire, or two that goes down over time? Ditch the rotten dust cover on the QR valve. Inflate all the tires to the same pressure, then see if the QR valve still exhausts while attempting to fill the tires. If it does, pull it off and check for debris in the rubber flap, or the flap...
I’m cheap and would run the 14s off road untill they pop, unless your running alot of side hills. Then I would go with 395s unless your running in a lot fo soft ground and need the floatation, then do the 16s
Good read on transfer case breakage theories.
I almost stalled my transmission completely out, 1rst gear, low range, wide open throtle, dragging my 25 ton loader up out of a mud hole with a thrown track and fortunatly did not break mine.
Looks like you figured out the photos, keep them coming!
The torque rod bushings just get old and pop off under stress, I have never heard of transfercase range, or travel direction having a major effect on when they pop, but once one goes the others usually are short to follow. If you have...
I think with a little patience and maintenance, you have the perfect truck for the job!
You can buy and press just the bushings in yourself, and you might as well replace them all and hopefully not worry about them for another 20 years. There is a good thread on the replacement here, but I...
For anyone coming from Cincy, it looks like SR52 is closed from I74 to Brookville again, as well as from Brookville towards Metamora. Also Duck Creek Rd is closed between SR1 and Laurel, as well as Laurel Rd is closed to “thru trucks at SR1. So looks like the best bet from I-74 is the Batesville...
Did you check the temperature of the engine block itself? The radiator will show very little heat until the thermostat opens and the water pump is moving water.
Sounds interesting to me, just about everything is sellable, well maybe not that cat. Not sure what else your implying to do with it? Free to a good home? Then I’m interested, even all the way across the country...
